Aftercare

Once your loved one's services are completed. We sit down with our families to provide them with direction of Aftercare. What Aftercare provides is the filling out and filing of the Canada Pension Death Benefit, Old Age Security and what next steps need to take place in notifying the appropriate organizations. We will give you a step by step guide into helping handle your loved one's affairs.

What Benefits are Available through Canada Pension Plan (cpp) in regards to death and survivourship?

Is There Financial Need if I Need it?

Benefits through CPP are available to people who have worked throughout their lifetime and have paid into the CPP program. The biggest misconception is that everyone receives $2500 at death. This is the MAXIMUM benefit; in reality the benefit is 6 times a person’s monthly CPP benefits, up to a maximum of $2500. The survivor’s benefit is for a surviving spouse and dependent children only, and would be a portion of the deceased’s monthly CPP. We have a comprehensive aftercare program that is included with all our services to assist you in applying for these benefits.

There are a number of options available, including:

  • Canada Pension Death Benefit/Survivors Benefit
  • Last Post Fund
  • Alberta Income Support Services
  • Band Members Benefits

Please talk to your Funeral Director to see if you qualify for any benefits that may be available.
