Clayton William Soice

July 10, 1928
October 29, 2025
✟
❀
Clayton William Soice passed away peacefully October 29, 2025, free from pain with the love of his entire family with him. He was born July 10, 1928, to Gladys and Odber Soice who farmed in the Warner area.
In 1929, when Clayton was one year old, they moved to the current family farm half a mile west of Warner. This farmstead has been owned and tended to by a Soice for almost a century. Clayton was raised on this farm west of Warner with his two sisters Delvoir and Marjorie, and his brother LeRoy. Clayton learned at a young age to clean pig pens and chicken coops, milk cows and work the land. Clayton received his primary education in Warner School and enjoyed activities such as music lessons, bowling and hockey.
Clayton’s passion was sports - especially the sport of baseball. He was a pitcher with the Warner team which played against competing teams from surrounding areas such as New Dayton with players including Harry and Jerry Gorrill and the Cronkhite brothers. Clayton’s baseball highlight was when his Warner team won the provincial championship in 1957.
After completing business college and a welding course in Calgary, Clayton started renting the farm from his parents in 1948 at the age of 20. With hard work and determination, he was successful in purchasing the farm a quarter section at a time. It was a great accomplishment for Clayton, and he became a very respected farmer and steward of the land that he loved.
Clayton met Dorothy Gorrill at a dance in Waterton, May 24, 1950. As they chatted he was shocked to learn that she was Harry and Jerry’s sister! His baseball rivals! Clayton proposed to Dorothy that Christmas Eve. They were married June 6, 1951 during a prairie blizzard.
Dorothy was a teacher by trade and believed strongly in education. Before they were married, she told Clayton that if they were blessed with children that each one of them were to have a post-secondary education. They raised five children together; Gary, Douglas, Daryl, Linda and Shelley.
Clayton was a strong supporter of the community. He was an assistant coach in hockey, became involved in Cubs and supported 4-H. He was also a pretty good referee as sometimes the three boys needed a bit of separating. He was instrumental in the installation of natural gas lines and bringing water co-op lines into the Warner area. Having a good water and heat supply are essential for life on a farm.
In 1971, Clayton, Hal Cronkhite, Tom Cronkhite and Art Beaton formed the Rollin’ River Ranch Company. They bought the Rowland lease of grassland to graze 600 cows. The families ranched together, fixing fence, herding cows and branding, when inevitably a game of baseball would break out. It was a successful venture where they shared many good times, barbecues and laughter.
Clayton and Dorothy were active in the Warner community. They enjoyed being with family and friends as well as curling, bowling and golfing. Fishing trips with his sons, son-in-laws, and nephew, Terry were also a highlight for him. They had a good life, enjoying traveling with their trailer, on cruises and by air to many destinations. Sadly, cancer took Dorothy’s life in January 2004.
In April 2005, Clayton married Marie Witbeck. This was a union of two people who had lost their beloved soulmates. After 77 years on the Soice farm in Warner, Clayton retired and moved with Marie to Lethbridge. They were good companions who enjoyed playing cards with friends and visiting with the gang at Tim Hortons. In 2019, when Marie required more care she moved into a lodge in Raymond to be close to her children.
Clayton loved life, particularly farm life. The saying that “the keeper of the herd and the land are closer to a god than most” resonated deeply with him. He viewed the herd as his family and the land as the farm and took the responsibilities of both on with deep conviction. Even after his move to Lethbridge, the farm was always on Clayton’s mind and he often made several trips to Warner to see the crops and the cattle. He was a helpful hand at branding and enjoyed getting his hands dirty repairing machinery.
In 2023 Clayton moved into Black Rock Terrace, an assisted living facility where he made new friends and enjoyed playing pool and spending time visiting with family from near and far.
We will remember Clayton for his enduring love of family, friends, farming and ranching. We will remember his quick wit, sense of humour, and his remarkable ability to bring laughter and warmth to those around him. We will remember his generosity, his kind heart, his incredible work ethic, curiosity, conviction, and unquestionable love for his family.
The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the staff and residents at Black Rock Terrace, the home care aides, EMS workers and Dr. Johan Meyer for their compassionate care during Clayton’s final days.
Clayton will be remembered as a true gentleman who was deeply loved, is profoundly missed, and will forever remain in our hearts.

❀
Mrs. Editha “Edith” Wallocha of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late Mr. Hans Wallocha, passed away peacefully at Edith Cavell Care Centre on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at the age of 102 years.
Editha was born in Berlin Germany on the 31st of July 1923 to parents Valerian and Angelika Deja. Along with her five sisters, she was raised during the depression era of Europe and experienced the hardships of the 1920’s, 30’s and 40’s. Following the war, she worked as a secretary for Caritas Austria, a Roman Catholic charitable organization. After meeting her future husband Hans, she moved to Canada in 1960 where he had already immigrated to and established himself. They were married shortly thereafter, and had three sons, Martin, Edmund, and Norbert.
Editha will be known for her total dedication to family. She was the caregiver to her eldest son Martin, who had Down Syndrome, and poured her life and soul into making sure he had the best life possible until his passing at age 41. It was only due to Editha’s love and devotion that Martin lived for so long. She will also be remembered for her acumen as the brains and administrative force behind the family business that she and Hans had established. She was considered to be a 9th degree black-belt in crossword puzzles, an avid gardener, and like any good “Oma” would do, took extra pride in spoiling her grand-children with kindness and chocolates.
As a devout and faithful Roman Catholic, she will be welcomed into heaven and reunited with the loved ones that have passed before her.
Editha is survived by her sons Edmund and Norbert (Katherine), and two grandchildren Matthew and Michaela. Besides her husband Hans, she was pre-deceased by her mother and father Angelika and Valerian, and sisters Alexa, Erika, Hedwig, Ursal (Editha’s twin), and Victoria.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects between 6:00pm and 8:00pm on Thursday, October 30, 2025 at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 – 4 Street South, Lethbridge, Alberta.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00am on Friday, October 31, 2025 at OUR LADY OF THE ASSUMPTION ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2405 – 12 Avenue South, Lethbridge, Alberta. Interment to follow in the Mountain View Cemetery.

It is with heartfelt remembrance that the family of Glynn Alexander Joseph Brooks of Lethbridge announces his passing on October 24, 2025, at the age of 87. A beloved father and grandfather, Glynn’s gentle spirit and unwavering faith touched the lives of many.
Glynn was born in Lethbridge on June 22, 1938, the only child of Kathleen and Reginald Brooks. He grew up with a deep love for the outdoors, which he nurtured through hunting, backpacking, hiking, boating, and fishing. After graduating from high school in Calgary, Glynn was actively involved in the Boy Scouts of Canada, serving as a volunteer scout master and Camp Director at Camp Gardener, where he forever left a positive mark on those he mentored. His commitment to service and faith was evident throughout his life, and many lifelong friendships blossomed through his Scouting and church involvement.
Glynn worked for International Harvester from 1958 to 1960, before joining the Calgary Police Service from 1960 to 1964. In March 1959, he met his loving wife Donalda in Calgary; they married on April 9, 1960. Together, they raised two sons in Calgary—Cam (Jodi, granddaughter Brynn) and Blaine (sons Ashton and Kaden)—and shared countless cherished memories.
Throughout his life, Glynn’s passion for the outdoors and his entrepreneurial spirit led him to numerous pursuits, including managing fuel stations, farming, and running the Cee-der Chalets near Canmore with Donalda, which they operated with love and dedication. The family’s moves took them to Wainwright and Edmonton before settling in Lethbridge, where Glynn became General Manager of the Canadian Cooperative Wool Growers. Later years saw Glynn enjoying the tranquility of his hobby farm near Park Lake, Alberta, where he raised sheep, cattle, goats, and chickens, finding peace and joy in farm life for nearly 30 years.
Throughout his life, Glynn's strong faith was a guiding force; he and Donalda were active members of the First Baptist Church in Lethbridge, participating in Bible studies and church life until their passing. Glynn’s legacy lives on through his family—his sons Cam and Blaine—and the many lives he touched through his quiet kindness and faith-based service.
A small family Graveside Service will be held at Mountainview Cemetery. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff at Legacy Lodge in Lethbridge for their compassionate care.

Dennis loved life; he was always positive, energetic, cheerful, generous and considerate. Parkinson’s Disease slowed him down physically over the last few years, but did not dampen his zest for life, for projects and research. His love for his students, his friends, and above all, his family remained as strong as ever. Dennis will be deeply missed, and lovingly remembered by many, many people on three continents.

❀
Myrna Louvain Tweter, beloved wife of the late Donald Tweter, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at the young age of 86.
Myrna is survived by her children Kelly, Shelly (Todd), Susan, and Nicole (Blair), and her grandchildren Kyle (Kristy), Karly, Kelsey (Francisco), Riley (Megan), Justin (Brittany), Jayden, and Dawson as well as her great-grandson Kody. She is also survived by her brother Doug (Georgette), sister Karen (Jack), sister-in-law Delta, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and in-laws Albert and Norma Lardner and Trygve and Pearl Tweter, brothers-in-law Robert and Orville, and sister-in-law Bernice.
Myrna was born on October 20, 1939, in Edmonton, Alberta. It was there she met and married the love of her life, Don, on June 11, 1960. Don’s work took the family to various cities across Saskatchewan and Alberta before they settled in Lethbridge in 1972, where they built a warm and welcoming home.
Myrna enjoyed a long and fulfilling career with the Workers’ Compensation Board before retiring and taking up golf, which quickly became one of her greatest passions. She loved the game and continued to golf right through this past season. Myrna also loved a good night of games with family and friends, whether it was cards, cribbage, or whatever the kids suggested (except pictionary!). A true card shark, she was always the kindest person, unless you were playing against her! Her home became a safe haven where everyone was welcome. Full of laughter, joy, and humour.
She was an avid Edmonton Oilers and Toronto Blue Jays fan, and an even bigger fan of her kids and grandkids. She never missed a chance to cheer them on at soccer, baseball, hockey, or wrestling matches, even braving snowy, avalanche-territory mountain passes just to watch her grandkids play hockey.
Myrna also had a love of travel and adventure. She explored Ireland with her dear friend Carol, visited Norway with family, and in her 80s journeyed to South Africa with her sister Karen (and Jack) and her nephew’s family. She travelled to Mexico, Texas, and Hawaii, and even went ziplining in Las Vegas a few years ago and, of course, couldn’t resist a visit to the casino!
Throughout her life, Myrna built countless cherished friendships and maintained them with love, laughter, and care. She was known for her kindness, thoughtfulness, listening ear, quick wit, and unwavering support for those she loved. She led an active, joy-filled life that defied her age, and it’s hard to believe she’s gone.
Myrna was our rock, our greatest supporter, and our constant source of love and laughter. We will miss her immensely and will hold tight to all of our memories until we are together again.
