MR. ARMANDO ZANONI passed away on their farm near Lethbridge, on Saturday, February 23, 2008, at the age of 88 years, beloved husband of Mrs. Bice Zanoni.
Armando was born on May 9th, 1919, he was raised and educated in Cologna commune di Tenno, Italy. Growing up in Cologna is where Armando developed a lifelong love of the mountains and of working the land.
Armando served in the Second World Ear and was the recipient of several commendations and medals for bravery.
On November 25, 1948 Armando married the love of his life and soul mate Bice.
In February of 1950 Armando, Bice and infant daughter Rosi immigrated to Canada arriving in Picture Butte from the port of Halifax.
After a few years of simultaneously working in the coal mines and construction, Armando fulfilled his dream with Bice by moving the family to their farm south east of Lethbridge. Together the farm prospered, was very productive and was ""Nonno's"" pride and mission in life. To farm is to provide and our Armando, husband, father and Nonno took this mission in life personally.
Armando was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, who took tremendous pride in accomplishments of his children and grandchildren. He had a passion for his Trentini culture and demonstrated through avid participation in the Trentini Club. He will be remembered by his family, friends and neighbours for his singing songs during holidays and at functions. Armando and Bice spent many memorable holidays enjoying their love of the mountains and hunting and fishing.
Besides his loving wife Bice, Armando is survived by his daughter Rosi (John) Gregory and their children; Jesse (Delaina), Matthew (Elizabeth), Katherine (Jamie), daughter Wilma (George) McCrea and their children; Clayton Wiebe (Krystal), Dalyce (Corbyn), son Guido (Gerda) Zanoni and their children Adam (Rachel), James; great-grandaughter Jadeyn Wiebe, along with numerous nieces, nephews in Canada and Italy.
Aramando was predeceased by his parents Santina and Guilio Zanoni, brothers Guilio and Francesco, sisters Renata and Amelia and grandson Jonathan Gregory.
Armando, ""Nanno"" will be greatly missed and forever remembered by his family and by all who knew him.
Prayers will be held at 7:00 P.M., on Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at MARTIN BROS. RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610-4th St. S., Lethbridge, AB.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M., on Thursday, February 28, 2008 at ST. AMBROSE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1513-23rd Ave., Coaldale, AB, with Father Wilbert Chin Jon, celebrant. Interment to follow in Mountain View Cemetery.
Donations may be made in Armando's memory to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Alberta, 207, 542-7th St. S., Lethbridge, AB, T1J 2H1 or to a charity of one's choice.
