Henry William Withage

Official Obituary of

6/5/1942 - to - 10/10/2012

""For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life."" John 3:16 WILLIAM HENRY WITHAGE passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 with his family at his side at the age of 70 years. Henry is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Pauline; their children Conrad (Colleen), Carolyn (Kirk) Gouw, Sharon (Harry) Korver, Loren (Charlene); grandchildren Wade, Cole, and Brienne Withage, Seth and Reanne Gouw, Jaylen and Kendra Korver, and Jared, Justin, Megan and Taylor Withage; sister Minety (Nick) Wever; brother Gary (Anne) Withage; in laws: Peter (Elly) Brandsma, Jennie Brandsma, Jake Brandsma and numerous nephews and nieces. Henry was predeceased by his parents Cornelius and Johanna Withage; Pauline's parents Louis and Klazina Brandsma; in laws: Louis and Betty Brandsma, John Brandsma, and Hank and Ann Wamsteeker. Henry was born on May 6, 1942 in Lethbridge, Alberta. He grew up in the Monarch area on the family farm and attended school in Monarch and also in Nobleford for a short time. He then worked on the farm until he married Pauline Brandsma on June 10, 1966. They made their home in Lethbridge where he continued to farm for a short while. Henry always worked hard to provide for his family. He spent 20 years in the feed industry where he made many acquaintances and friends - many of whom he continued to associate with in later years. In April of 1989 he returned to farming in the Monarch area where he resided until his passing. Henry's passion was the auction business, whether it was a fundraising auction, farm or livestock sale - Henry was there and willing to help. He was a self-taught auctioneer and conducted many church and school auctions. He was a faithful member of the Christian Reformed Church where he served many terms as elder and deacon. His family meant the world to him and his grandchildren brightened his days. He looked forward to family get-togethers and trips away with Mother. Henry was a loving husband, Dad and Opa. He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his loving family and many friends. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects from 3:00 to 4:30 pm on Sunday, October 14, 2012 at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 4th Street South, Lethbridge. A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, October 15, 2012 at the CHRISTIAN REFORMED CHURCH OF NOBLEFORD, 522 Highway Avenue, Nobleford, Alberta, with Pastor J. Cameron Fraser, officiating. Donations in Henry's memory may be made to Immanuel Christian Schools, 802 6th Avenue North, Lethbridge, AB T1H 0S1.
