20/5/1919 - to - 7/6/2007

Passed away Thursday, June 7, 2007 ELIZABETH ""BETTY"" CHRISTINA WIGELSWORTH at the age of 88 years.

Betty was born on May 20, 1919 in her parent's home in Edmonton. A career as a telephone operator with the Edmonton City Telephones kept her busy until 1946 when she married her childhood sweetheart Frank when he came back from overseas. Betty and Frank moved to Grande Prairie in 1956 to open an Appliance, Refrigeration and Electrical Store (Midwest Electric). Betty worked in the downtown store and was a salesperson extraordinaire! Betty and Frank retired to Lethbridge in 1981.

Betty was very passionate about the Legion and the United Church. She held many offices in the Ladies Auxiliary to the Royal Canadian Legion and was made a Life Member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Royal Canadian Legion in 1981 from the Grande Prairie Branch #54. She received The Meritorious Service Award in 2003 from the General Stewart Branch #4 for her service to the branch and her countless hours of volunteering for many organizations. Betty was an active member of St. Paul's United Church in Grande Prairie and McKillop United Church in Lethbridge. She was a member of the United Church Women, involved herself in many Canadian Girls in Training functions and would mot miss her Tuesday morning ""Coffee Girls"" group. Betty was a very social being who loved people and any social event. She was always the ""life of the party""! At 85 years of age she hung up her skates, put away her bowling shoes, sold her golf clubs and gave up her season tickets to the Lethbridge Hurricanes. Betty loved life and lived it to the fullest!

Betty is survived by her daughter Pati of Lethbridge, her son Allen (Linda) of Spruce Grove and her grandsons Kyle of Spruce Grove and Jeramie of Edmonton as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families, and countless friends. Betty was predeceased by her husband Frank, brothers Andrew and Allister and her parents George and Rachel.
