Brenda Weasel Bear

Official Obituary of

13/7/1961 - to - 8/11/2021

Leona Brenda Weasel Bear – Sspitaakii of Cardston, Alberta beloved spouse of the late Francis Black Plume, passed away suddenly on November 8, 2021, at the age of 60 years old at the Chinook Regional Hospital surrounded by her children.

Brenda was born in Cardston, Alberta to proud parents of Margaret and John Weasel Bear on July 13, 1961. She attended Provo Utah Elementary School for kindergarten, Hill Spring Elementary School, St. Paul’s Day School, Cardston Elementary School, and graduated from Cardston High School. Brenda was always a go-getter; she was never the type to wait to be told what to do. She had that innate ability to see a vision and improvise with what she had to make it happen. As soon as she was able to work, she started work as a cashier at the SAAN department store in Cardston earning herself a promotion as manager, she humbly declined. After high school graduation she thought she would venture off to the States to attend a Post-Secondary School unfortunately it was rather hard finding a job that did not require a Social Security Card, so she ended up on coming back home to Canada. During her pursuit of her post-secondary education, she received her Administrative Assistant Diploma from the Lethbridge College. It was at that point in her life she met and fell in love with the love of her life Francis Black Plume. They started their life together in 1986, both being employed so they can live independently together. She was able to find a cashier job at Mc Donald’s, which Francis loved because he would go through the drive thru before his morning shift and Brenda would always stick an extra sandwich in his bag. In 1991 to 1995 they started to expand their family with 2 daughters and a son. Brenda knew when she became a mom that she would become a domestic homemaker so she could watch her children grow and tend to the household while her husband was away working. Once her children were old enough, she went back to Bow Valley College to upgrade her skills and education so she can work at the Old Man River dam as a data analyst. Unfortunately, with her rheumatoid arthritis progressing, she was unable to continue working. Brenda did not mind because she got promoted to stay-at home Grandma in 2008 until now.

You could describe Brenda as a strong-willed individual who was supportive and passionate about her loved ones and any project that she was working on. Brenda was a very protective mom and grandmother, she tried her best to make every game/event, be supportive and be the loudest cheerleader. During Brenda’s free time you would catch her watching her favorite television shows, she would set an alarm for every show so she would not miss an episode. She had a collection of tablets so she could watch her YouTube videos, listen to her music on Spotify, or Snapchat with her grandbabies. She had taken a lot of pride in her arts and craft projects especially her new recent addiction to card making. She made a card for every holiday and made sure each of her loved ones had a special card for their birthday. As much as her arthritis had progressed, she still found a way to live her life comfortably without complaining about the pain she was in. She would simply smile and say, “it may take me a little bit longer, but I will get it done”. Her family admired how she would set a goal for herself every 5 years that she was going to keep walking. She was the most beautiful, gentle, hilarious, and strong-willed person they have ever known. Brenda was the pillar to her family, the glue that held everyone together, she will be greatly missed by all of her friends and family.
