We sadly announce the passing of Casper James Watson from cancer in Lethbridge, Alberta on October 28, 2020 just after his 70th birthday. 

He is survived by his ex-wife Valerie Overend of Regina Saskatchewan, and their two sons:  Eric Watson and daughter Ca’Sandra, of Regina, Saskatchewan; and Colin Watson with wife Misha Watson (Cobban) of Winlaw, BC, and their two children – Ivy and Shylo.  He is also survived by his first wife Lorene Bremner of Strathmore Alberta.  Casper’s younger brother Steven L. Watson of Courtney, BC and younger sister Brenda K. Watson of North Vancouver, BC also survive him. 

He is pre-deceased by his Father Thomas R. Watson, and Mother Helen L. Watson (Untinen), and younger sister Janet L. Rowe (Watson). 

Casper spent most of his life in Calgary, a good part of it in Vancouver, a little on Vancouver Island, and the last couple of years in Lethbridge, Alberta.  He earned his journeyman in carpentry and helped build many beautiful buildings throughout his career.  He was a good cook and enjoyed making meals for his friends.  He loved to take pictures while hiking in nature.  Casper grew up on a mixed farm in the country between Carseland and Strathmore of Southern Alberta, and attended Carseland Junior High School followed by Drumheller Composite (Senior) High School.  As a child he and Brenda had many fun days playing together including jumping off the farm buildings into the snow-banks in the wintertime and making tunnels through the snow.  With the family and neighbours, they would go skating and tobogganing, and in the summertime, swim in the irrigation canals near the farm.  As Casper grew up he learned to ride a motorcycle and later to drive the family car.  He learned to do the chores and look after the farm animals, help with the grain planting and harvesting, and the planting and harvesting of a huge garden.  Casper would drive his sister to some appointments so she did not have to bus it a long ways.  He would give money to the poor when the opportunity arose.   In his later years he began to write fiction, which was not completed.  Casper always had a friendly demeanor and a positive attitude and enjoyed people.  He loved to travel and experienced parts of Europe, Asia, and Central and South America – Ecuador, Peru and Nicaragua. 

Casper’s family, friends, aunts, uncles and cousins will miss him, and wish him well in his new journey of life.
