Donna Waldern

Official Obituary of

8/10/1966 - to - 15/10/2012

DONNA ANN FAYE WALDERN of Lethbridge passed away suddenly at home on Monday, October 15, 2012 at the age of 46 years. Donna was born on October 8, 1966 in Lethbridge and due to family difficulties she was placed into the custody and care of her Great Aunt Betty whom she considered to be Mom. She continued to be cared for and was living with Mom at the time of her death. Throughout her life, Donna experienced many health difficulties that presented several challenges. Despite these challenges, Donna was active in community groups and liked to help where she could. Donna loved sports and participated thorough Special Olympics and the Lethbridge Handicapped Riding Association. As a participant in these organizations, she won many trophies for bowling, swimming, skating and riding. Recently she was a member of the Integrated Bowling League that provided her with great enjoyment. Music, both listening and playing also brought her great enjoyment. It was a highlight for her to see Kenny Rogers and Anne Murray in person, two of her favourite artists. Donna taught herself to play the guitar and she enjoyed playing for others. Art was another love and most recently she won first prize for her interpretation of what the Library Bookmobile should look like. She had a flyer route with the Lethbridge Herald that kept her busy along with programs from Southern Alberta Community Living Association (SACLA). Our family would like to thank her workers at SACLA and those who took Donna on respite for your care and love to her. God, her church (The Salvation Army) and her family were most important to her. She was predeceased by her grandfather John Cunningham; her great grandmother Harriet Cunningham; and a very special friend Norma St. Dennis. She is survived by her Mom Betty Waldern; her birth Mother Virginia Cunningham of Edmonton; her brother Gerald (Pamela) Waldern and his family: nephew Jerry (Pam) Waldern and great nephews Wesley, Justin and Marcus; niece Bonnie (Justin) Wilson and great niece Grace; as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins. Date of Funeral to be announced when funeral arrangements are completed.
