June Wagner
Official Obituary of
17/1/1934 - to - 8/10/2010
JUNE WAGNER of Lethbridge (formerly of Cardston) passed away on Friday, October 8, 2010 at the age of 76 years following a short illness surrounded by her family.
June was born in Boian, Alberta on January 17, 1934. Mom was born at home during a blizzard and her Mom and Dad could not get to a hospital. At the age of 4 she taught herself how to read. Mom told us stories on how she used to get a flashlight and read under the sheets to read her books so as to not get into trouble. Her love of reading and books was so great. At the age of 10 her mother passed away and her life changed forever. Mom was employed by Alberta Treasury Branches in 1951 as a ledger keeper. She transferred to Cardston in 1955. One day while walking down the main street in Cardston a handsome man in a convertible honked at her. Not overly impressed by this at first, she eventually came around and married the late Gord Wagner on July 30, 1955.
Dad passed away on March 16, 2009. Mom is survived by her 5 children Heather (Marv Gunderson), Kendall (Brenda), Cameron, twins Dale (Marilyn) and Derrick (Miriam) as well as 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Gordon Fredrick Wagner was born in Cardston on September 17, 1935. Dad passed away on March 16, 2009. Mom wanted his ashes close by her until she decided what to do. Upon her passing her children have decided to hold a memorial for Dad as a part of her services so that they could be together forever. They were married for 55 years.
Together Mom and Dad ranched and farmed. Mom also had a full-time bank position. Mom's holidays were always spent helping Dad bring in the harvest. We all knew when it was harvest time because there were always special oatmeal and peanut butter cookies waiting for us when we got home from school. They both shared a special love of animals and over the years we were able to enjoy the company of numerous dogs (the last their special Sarge) cats, chickens, pigs, a coyote names ""Chico"", horses, and our milk cow named ""Dolly"" on the farm.
A Celebration of Life for our Mom and Dad will be held at 1:00PM, on Saturday, October 16, 2010, at the ST. ANDREW'S UNITED CHURCH, 389 - 2 Avenue West, Cardston, Alberta.
Flowers are gratefully declined; instead Mom and Dad would ask you to care for your families and friends. Also; be kind to all of God's creatures.
