Joseph Leo Wachtler 1950 ~ 2014

Joe passed away in his home in Mexico. Joe is survived by his loving wife Joye of 42 years, his son Lorne and his wife Alissa, daughter Kerri and her husband Duane, 3 grandchildren Bryce, Logan, and Mikayla. Also left to mourn Joe's passing is his mother Betty, sister Karen (Terry), sister Mary (Ted), sister Diane (Alan), brother John (Sue), brother David and brother-in-law Gaalen (Lynda) Erickson, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and a large extended family and friends from all over the world. Joe is predeceased by his father Leo Wachtler.

Joe and Joye married on June 10, 1972 where they resided in Warner. In 1973 they moved up to Olds where Joe worked at the Harmattan Gas Plant the beginning of a long successful career. In 1976 Joe and Joye moved down to Pincher Creek where Joe worked for Shell and completed his Mill Rite and also received his masters. Joe's career in the oilfield industry led him on many adventures travelling to many different countries around the world, way too many to mention. Joe and Joye lived between Lethbridge, Pincher Creek and then eventually made the move to Calgary in 1996 and then to Olds in 2004. In 2005 Joe and Joye bought their ""ranch"" up in Lougheed, Alberta. This little sanctuary ended up being home away from home for Joe and Joye while Joe was working up in the Hardesty/Sedgwick area. A few short years later they soon sold and found a new sanctuary down in Yuma. In early 2009 Joe and Joye bought their park model in West Wind Park in Yuma. This was their ""little home down south"". Joe enjoyed many hours on the golf course with friends and family, and looked forward to spending his down time in Yuma. In 2011 Joe started his retirement planning and took a job with Trans Canada which led Joe and Joye to Mexico first to Colima and then onto San Juan del Rio, Queretaro until his passing. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00pm, Saturday February 22, 2014 at MARTIN BROTHERS. RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 4th Street South, Lethbridge.
