With his family at his side, John Vander Woude left to be with his Lord and Savior on October 15, 2007.

Born on March 16, 1920 near Nobleford, Alberta, John was the youngest of eight children of Tona and Jan Vander Woude. He served four years with the Canadian Army and returned to Nobleford to farm the ""homeplace"". In 1947, he married Alice (Allie) Van Egmond.

John, a member of the Nobleford Christian Reformed Church lived his life with a peaceful assurance that came from his strong faith. A happy, loving marriage, children and grandchildren filled his life with joy. His love, kind heart, sweet smile and gentle strength will always remain with us.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, his children - Rob Vander Woude of Edmonton, Sharon Vander Woude of Nobleford and Lauren (Sheila) Vander Woude of Lethbridge. He is dearly missed by four grandchildren - Dustin, Jordan, Mackenzie, and Amy. He is also survived by brother-in-law Casey (Janette) Van Egmond and numerous nephews and nieces.

He is predeceased by his parents and all of his brothers and sisters - Betty (Charlie) Stapp, Ralph (Dena) Vander Woude, Ada (Herman) Postman, Herman (Geurdina) Vander Woude, Anthony (Margaret) Vander Woude, Minnie (Neal) Konynenbelt, Margaret (Bert) Konynenbelt . He is also predeceased by sister-in-law Hermina (Arie) Van Gaalen.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects between 7:00pm and 8:30PM on Friday, October 19, 2007 at MARTIN BROS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 - 4 Street South, Lethbridge.

An Interment will be held at 1:00PM on Saturday, October 20, 2007 at the Nobleford Monarch Cemetery followed by the Memorial Service held at 2:00PM at the CHRISTIAN REFORMED CHURCH OF NOBLEFORD, 522 Highway Ave, with Reverend Kevin Jordan officiating.
