Elizabeth “Betsy” Van Seters

1931- 2015

With deep gratitude for a life well lived, the family of Elizabeth would like to announce that she went to be with her Lord, suddenly at home, on January 21, 2015 at the age of 83 years. She will be deeply missed by her husband of 60 years, Hugo, and nine children, 26 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Betsy was born in Hornhuisen, the Netherlands on April 24, 1931. Bets lived her early years on a farm where she developed her love of gardening from her father. At the age of 18 she worked at the store of her future brother in law Neil Van Seters, where she met Hugo. They were married on April 20, 1954 and immigrated to Canada in 1957. They have lived in Lethbridge, Alberta ever since, raising 9 children: Casey (Martha), Nelly (Harold) Vriend, Gerald (Marg), Hugo (Shannon), Liz (Jack) Lodder, Aneta (Allan) Van Dyk, Joyce (John) Van Dyk, Ruby (Pete) de Groot, and Ron.

Gardening and decorating were the loves of her life, and these along with her children and grandchildren filled her life with many blessings. Our lives are richer for the life she has lived. The grace of God given to us through Christ’s death and resurrection has been her strength and it is our comfort. “Blessed are those who die in the Lord; they will rest from their labours, for their deeds will follow them.” Revelations 14:13

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects between 7:00pm and 9:00pm on Monday, January 26, 2015 at Martin Brothers Riverview Chapel, 610 - 4th Street S. Lethbridge.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 pm, Tuesday, January 27 at Trinity United Reformed Church, 100-40 Ave N., Lethbridge, with Pastor Ian Crooks officiating.

A private family graveside service will be held at the Royal View Cemetery.
