Passed away in Lethbridge on Friday, February 9, 2007, MR. ARIE VAN GAALEN at the age of 82 years, beloved companion to Dianne Schebel of Lethbridge.

Arie was born in Burdett and raised on the family farm near Coaldale. He married Hermina Van Egmond in 1946 and they began farming, also in the Coaldale area. In 1958, he moved his farming operation to the Monarch area. While farming there, he also developed a family based business that included a service station, a bulk fuel delivery and gas fitting service. In 1971, he moved to Lethbridge and worked for the Transit System. Arie retired in 1990 and became involved as a volunteer for the LSCO.

He is survived by a son Gord (Marion) Van Gaalen of Edmonton; grandchildren Kim (Matt) White of Red Deer, Kara (Chris) Hunter of Edmonton, Rhonda Van Gaalen (Bob Kennedy) of Edmonton, Ryan and Evan Harkness of Taber; two great grandsons Joel White of Red Deer and Noah Hunter of Edmonton; sisters Anne Bos of Everett, Washington and Marie (John) Jansen of Mission, BC.

Arie was predeceased by his beloved wife of 53 years, Hermina.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects between 7:00 pm and 9:00 pm, on Thursday, February 15, 2007 at MARTIN BROS. RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 - 4 St. South, Lethbridge, AB.

A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, February 16, 2007 at 12:30 pm at the NOBLEFORD/MONARCH CEMETERY. A Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 pm at the MARTIN BROS. RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 - 4 St. S., Lethbridge, AB. with Pastor Ron Klok officiating.
