Tina Van Essen
Official Obituary of
26/5/1970 - to - 6/10/2018
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our dearly beloved mother, wife, daughter, sister, and friend Tina Lee Van Essen on Saturday, October 6th, 2018 at the age of 48 years.
Tina leaves behind her husband of 20 years Hendrik Van Essen; her children Lyndsay Tomm (Sjors Van Rhee), Stuart Van Essen, Andrew Van Essen; her mother Deloris Featherstone; her brother Robert Tomm; and her sister Tammy Tomm.
Tina was born on May 26th, 1970 in Edson, Alberta. She grew up mostly in the Fort Macleod area, where she ‘sometimes’ attended F.P. Walshe High School. Tina worked at A&W where she met Henk, occasionally slipping him the odd free burger. In 1994, Tina moved in with Henk in Diamond City, starting their lives together. A few years later they moved to Turin, and then moved again in 1998 to the farm where she resided until her passing. After proposing to him a few weeks before, Henk and Tina got married on October 10th, 1998.
In 2011, they purchased the Country Corner Store in Turin. Tina was known by all customers as a warm, hilarious, and caring woman. After selling the store in 2017, Tina started working at DeVry Greenhouses. She loved her job, making numerous friends and memories.
Family and friends that loved her will always remember Tina for her big heart, her kind soul, and her sense of humour. She will be greatly missed by her family and her many, many friends.
