ANNA STRAZZA of Coaldale, beloved wife of Nick Strazza, passed away peacefully on Friday December 30, 2011 at the young age of 93 years seven months and 29 days.
Anna was born in Vorderstoder, Austria on May 1, 1918, by the age of eleven she worked in a Gasthous and by the age of twenty one she had been drafted and worked as a Nurse during the war. She moved to Canada in 1951 with her Son Otto and eventually settled in Lethbridge and Nursed at the Galt Hospital until 1959. She and Nick then moved to Coaldale where she raised two sons Fred and Delnor, and pampered her Jersey cows and garden.
Ann loved life and people and any opportunity to go camping and fishing as she loved the mountains, ""the beautiful mountains, just like in Austria"" she would say. Ann was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Fraternal Order of Eagles for 36 years; she was a Past President and a member of the Ritual Team. She was also a member of the Women of the Moose and volunteered countless hours raising money for numerous charities. She was strong and active to her final days enjoying trips to the Casino and outings with family.
Ann was pre deceased by Nick in December 2008 and is survived by her sons Otto (Wanda) Riedlhuber, Fred Veress, Delnor Strazza; grandchildren Dan Riedlhuber, Jim (Connie) Riedlhuber, Jason Veress, Jeffery (Kristin) Strazza, Christina (Rob) Messenger; great grandchildren Travis, Adam, Jesse, Tayten, Xander, and Melissa.
Family and friends are invited to say goodbye during a viewing on Thursday January 5, 2012 from 1:00PM to 3:00PM at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 4 Street South, Lethbridge, AB, followed by a Luncheon at THE EAGLES HALL, 631 13 Street North, Lethbridge, AB from 3:00PM to 5:00PM.
We gratefully thank the Doctors and Staff at the Regional Hospital and the Staff and friends at St. Michaels Health Centre. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Michaels Health Centre Covenant of Health Lethbridge, 1400 9 Ave South, Lethbridge, AB T1J 4V5.
Mom you were strong and determined to the end, you are loved and will be missed. You were not alone when you left; I was there and held your hand. You may be gone but you will always be with me.
