Walter Slomp January 28, 1930 ~ March 31, 2014

Lords Day 1: Heidelberg Catechism: What is your only comfort in life and in death? That I am not my own but belong- body and soul- to my faithful Saviour Jesus Christ

Mr. Walter Slomp, beloved husband of Mrs. Mina Slomp, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Monday, March 31, 2014 at the age of 84 years.

Walter is survived by his loving wife Mina; his children Finny (Ted), Clarence (Judy), Berny (Sherri), Floria (Brian), Greta (Nick), Andrew (Patty), Brenda (Dave) and Beverly (Rem); 32 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings Anno, Harry (Bonnie), Clarence (Elsa), Diane (Mel), Bertha (Jan), Bert (Trudie); brother-in-law John; numerous nieces, nephews and their families, as well as Mina's family.

Walter was predeceased by his parents, 6 siblings, 4 in-laws and one grandson, Hunter.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respect between 6:00pm and 8:00pm on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 4th Street South, Lethbridge.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00pm on Thursday, April 3, 2014 at TRINITY UNITED REFORMED CHURCH, 1100 40th Avenue North, Lethbridge, with Reverend Hank Van der Woerd, officiating. A private family interment will take place in the Mountain View Cemetery with Reverend Wybren Oord, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the two places where Walter volunteered, Bibles for Missions, 1004- 1st Avenue South, Lethbridge, AB T1J 0B1 or the Interfaith Foodbank, 1103- 3rd Avenue North, Lethbridge, AB T1H 0H7.
