Official Obituary of

12/5/1929 - to - 28/4/2012

OLIVE LOREEN (DUNFIELD) SHEARER, loving Mother, Mother in-law, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Friend, passed away April 28, 2012 at the age of 82 years.

Olive was predeceased by her husband John Lloyd Shearer, both of her parents Leslie and Muriel Dunfield, her sister Eunice (Dunfield) Hage, and brother Earl Dunfield.

She is survived by her children Ron (Diane) Shearer, Loree (Vince) Toth, her Grandchildren Ron Shearer Jr., Nathan Shearer, Shane Shearer, Ken and Tara Sullivan, Shawn Daley and Karlie Roberts, Nicole Daley and Mike Schneider, Shaunah Toth, Taylor Toth, and her Great Grandchildren Audra Sullivan, Jayda Daley.

Olive was born May 12, 1929 in Craigmyle Alberta. She grew up on the family farm just outside Delia, Alberta. Olive was a bit of a tomboy and hated housework, but loved the outdoors and would store grain, milk cows and anything else outdoors. After graduating high school at the age of 16 she moved to Calgary, Alberta to attend Henderson Business College. When she graduated college she got a job at an insurance company in Calgary. One night while attending the circus she met a fellow by the name of John Lloyd Shearer and they were married six months later August 24, 1947. Soon after they moved to Lethbridge, this is where they would spend the rest of their lives. In 1948 they had a son named Ron and in 1958 they had a daughter named Loree. In 1959 they bought a house on 13 Ave. N., where Olive resided until February 09, 2012. Olive then moved to Legacy Lodge where she resided until her passing.

During Olive's life she was very active in the community and loved to laugh and socialize. She was a member of the local Army & Navy and Miners Club. She was a member of the congregation at Southminster Church. In her younger years she was involved in curling and played darts .She also volunteered at the Lethbridge Soup Kitchen through a church group. Later in life she took up golf and bowled weekly with good friends, she also joined the Revelers and went on many seniors' trips throughout Western Canada and the northern U.S. During her life she enjoyed many of trips, to Vegas, Mexico, Hawaii and Alaska. She enjoyed her Saturday coffee and breakfasts with her daughter and grandchildren. She will be sadly missed but always remembered.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Thursday, May 3, 2012 from 1:00 to 1:30 pm, followed by the Funeral Service held at 1:30 pm at SOUTHMINSTER UNITED CHURCH, 1011 4th Avenue South, Lethbridge, with Reverend Deborah Lannon, officiating.

Interment at Mountain View Cemetery.
