8/7/1924 - to - 9/11/2011
MR. HENRY (HANK) SCHEURMAN of Lethbridge, beloved husband of Mrs. Eileen Scheurman, passed away on Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at the age of 87 years.
Henry was born in Burstall Saskatchewan on July 8, 1924 to Conrad & Elizabeth Scheurman. He was one of nine children. Hank was a veteran of WWII serving in the Canadian Army from May 1944 to August 1946. Soon after his discharge he joined the Calgary City Police Force. He met his Bride-To-Be on Mother's Day 1947, and they were married 2 months later, on July 15th. Their two sons, Donald and Gordon, were born in Calgary. Soon after, the family moved to Lethbridge, where Hank worked in the Auto Industry for a number of years before beginning his 25 year career with the Lethbridge Correctional Institute.
Besides his loving wife, Hank is survived by his two sons and daughters-in-law Don & Judy Scheurman (Keoma, AB) and Gord and Louise Scheurman (Lethbridge); grandchildren Brad (Judy) Scheurman, Cara Ingram, Krista (Derek) Descoteau, Jamie (Bryan) Eklund, Kimberley Scheurman; great grandchildren Hailey & Chase Eklund, Liam Ingram, Owen & Jacob Scheurman, Dawsen & Daiya Descoteau; brother Samuel Sherman (Houston B.C.) and numerous nieces, nephews and their families.
Hank had an amazing green thumb and many of our summer gardens displayed his gorgeous geraniums. He spent many hours in his green houses at home, and at St. Michaels where Eileen has been residing for the past few years. Coffee and treats were always on hand for visitors.
Hank warmed us all with his big heart and never ending jokes and teasing. Many of his favorite moments were spent holding his grand & great grandbabies. He dearly loved all of them, and in return they cherished him.
He will be Forever in our Hearts.
A special Thank You to the staff at St. Michaels Palliative Care Unit for being so comforting to him during his final days.
A Celebration of Hank's Life will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 4th Street South, Lethbridge.
For those who wish, tributes in Hank's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 317-10th St. S., Lethbridge, AB, T1J 9Z9.
