DAWN ELIZABETH SAWERS of Lethbridge, beloved companion of Graham Allan Merrick, passed away peacefully after a brief battle with cancer on Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at the age of 48 years.

Dawn was born in Calgary, AB on July 16, 1961 to Constance and Alexander Sawers. Together they moved to Swift Current in 1962 and then moved to Lethbridge at the age of 8, where she attended school. At age 16 she met Graham and they remained together for 31 years. Dawn was employed by Southland Nursing Home for 16 years and Lethbridge School District #51 for 3 years. In 1981 she was a founding member of the Parents of Premature Infants Group at Bill Kergan Centre in Lethbridge. Dawn loved music, dancing, and having a cold beer on a hot day. She lived for her many friends and family, especially her grandchildren.

Besides her loving companion Graham, Dawn is survived by her daughters Jennifer (Bo Deforest) of Tisdale, SK and Courtney (James Olson) of Lethbridge; grandchildren Benjamin, Hailee, Hannah and Marley-James; sister Lesley (Marv Oslanski) of Milk River, AB; brother Jim (Cynthia) Sawers of Kenora, ON; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families.

She was predeceased by her parents Connie (Constance) and Alexander Sawers and brother Robert and sisters Maureen and Lynn.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects between 2:00pm and 4:00pm on Sunday, August 30, 2009 at MARTIN BROS. RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 - 4 Street South, Lethbridge.

A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00pm on Monday, August 31, 2009 at the SOUTHMINSTER UNITED CHURCH 1011 - 4 Ave South, Lethbridge, with Reverend Frank Lewis officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 317 - 10 Street South, Lethbridge, AB T1J 9Z9.
