Vincenzo Mario Rossi
1925 ~ 2015
Vincenzo (Vince) Mario Rossi a proud, honest, hardworking, humorous, strong headed and was greatly loved. We are of heavy hearts announcing the passing of a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Cousin & Friend on June 20th, 2015 With a strong unbelievable will...a fighter through and through.
Born October 28, 1925 in Aprigliano Vico Cosenza Italy Son of Pasquale & Adelina (Iacoe) Rossi, sister Barbra Esterina Albo (deceased) & her family, Beloved husband to Maria (Pelusi) Rossi His Children & Grandchildren Ellie (Richard ) Jordan & Rikki Peters, Rose Rossi, Cenz Rossi (Curtis), Family relatives in Edmonton, Calgary, BC, Ontario, U.S.A. and Italy.
In Vince's younger years, he was taught Mechanics & trades by His Uncle
Babtista. He was a gifted athlete, played soccer for Gremaldi and then became a Pro Soccer player for the Province. Vince toured all over, playing his sport with great pride. A class A pro Soccer player. He shared so many stories of his games, where he played, his team members and the fans. He ""loved"" ""loved"" Italy, his homeland. He never forgot a song, story or the people he held so dear. They were never forgotten""
In 1946 upon arriving to Canada in the cold of winter, Vince re united with his hometown girl Maria Pelusi in Toronto and they would marry. Vince & Maria after they were married would continue on moving to Michel/ Natal British Columbia where his father and mother resided along with other Italian immigrants from his home area in Italy. He worked with his father & friends in the coal mines. In that time period Vince and Maria began their family. Three daughters! Born in Fernie, they were all 2 years apart. He always wanted a boy, that
is why Cenz was named after him (he gave his daughters strength to be independent and strong.) A great father his girls always came first. We would tell him things that we were going to do & he would always ""You do what you want to do and be careful and have a good time""
His biggest joy! The gift that Ellie and Richard gave to him was his grandkids Jordan and Rikki. He had tears of joy when they were born. He could not wait to take them to and from school. He watched for them to walk through the door, to hear their voices and joke with them, hug them and give them some wisdom. He loved them so much and he told them so.
Life would again take a change. In 1964 BC government ordered that all residents be relocated to Sparwood and leave the mines due to environmental disaster. To provide a better life for his family, his cousin Pete Fiorinio encouraged him to make Lethbridge his home and so he (and many others) did and moved to Lethbridge in 1964. Good timing! It was just in time before the explosion.
In Lethbridgde, Vince worked at Beaver Lumber assembling grain bins, jobs with his Cousin Pete Fiorino, The Lethrbridge Brewery Gardens sight ""Welcome to Lethbridge"" entrance to our community when it was first being built. Clearing, planting and placing stone. He did not like the snakes. Vince found himself working at Catelli for over 25 years as a Forman until his retirement.
Vince enjoyed working in his garden and having projects. He loved sitting in the backyard listening to music. He enjoyed his time spent with son in laws Richard and Curtis. Vince, with wife Maria, welcomed visiting at home with all who came. Hanging out with family, friends & neighbours and making new friends was his pleasure.
You sacrificed so much... it did not go unnoticed, but all the thoughtful, caring things you've done are treasured memories and are cherished in the heart... you are loved for each and every one.
