Dorothy Robinson

1938 ~ 2016

Mrs. Dorothy Robinson of Lethbridge, passed away on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at the age of 78 years.

Dorothy was born on October 4, 1938 in Angusville MB the second of three girls born to Scotty and Audrey Ferguson. Dorothy spent her primary years in Angusville, Winnipeg and Russell, Manitoba. She had several interesting stories about her sister, Ena and herself during their time in Winnipeg during the war. Dorothy met Alan in high school. Following their marriage, they farmed with Alan’s parents (Norman and Mary) in the Ingleside region of SK. In the spring of 1958, they moved their young family to Churchill MB. They returned from the North to Russell and soon after began their life with Federated Co-op. This involved ten relocations throughout Manitoba and Saskatchewan in her adult life.

Dorothy was a dedicated homemaker, mother, wife and hostess. Throughout her life, family was her priority. She was always willing to care for, clean for, or cook for her children and grandchildren. Her home was always open to friends with the fragrance of fresh homemade buns or other baked delights filling the air. She enjoyed participating small town community events. As a young mother, she loved spending time at Silver Beach with extended family. In the 70s, Tobin Lake became her second home in the summer. She loved having the children and grandchildren visit in the summer. Her later years in Columbia Assisted Living were physically demanding as she dealt with the chronic pain and diminishing mobility from osteoarthritis.

Dorothy has left to mourn three daughters and one son: Wendy (Charlie) Kindzierski of Airdrie, AB; Kim Barks of Saskatoon SK; Robin Robinson of Toronto, ON; Scot (Heather) Robinson of Kelowna, BC. Dorothy is survived by her sister, Joy Roden of Rocanville, SK and brother-in-law Ken Flett of Cobble Hill, BC.

Dorothy is survived by six grandchildren and four great grandsons: Robert (Kim) Kindzierski and their sons Evan and William; Tracy (Rob) Freiman and their sons Dominic and Benjamin; Brooks (Neala) Barks and their son Andrik; Lindsay (Jim) Monier-Williams and their son Sol; Kaitlin and Bailey Robinson of Winnipeg, MB. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was predeceased by Alan Robinson, an infant son Bradley, her parents Scotty and Audrey Ferguson, her sister Ena Flett and her brother-in-law Bob Roden.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610-4 St. S., Lethbridge, AB, with Pastor Rodger Halvorsen, officiating. Inurnment will take place in Russell, MB at a later date.
