Ida Helen Roberts

1919 ~ 2015

Mrs. Ida Roberts (Wyman) of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late Mr. Earle Roberts, passed away peacefully in her home at St. Therese Villa on Sunday, April 12, 2015 at the age of 95 years.

Ida was born on May 23, 1919 to Helen at Lloyd Wyman in Brooklyn, Yarmouth County, Nova Scotia. At the age of 9, Ida became step daughter to Marion Wyman. She completed her schooling in Yarmouth and then finished Teacher Training at Normal School in Wolfville, NS. At the age of 18 she began teaching in a one room county school in Glenwood. She married Earle Roberts on October 19, 1945. After WWII Earle reenlisted in the Air Force and Ida continued teaching while they travelled. Upon their retirement in 1982 they resided in Lethbridge.

Ida is survived by her daughter Glenda (Len) Shapka; son Earle (Nancy) Roberts; grandchildren Jennifer, Sam, Jonathan and Amber; 5 great-grandchildren; brother Fred Wyman of Quebec; and sister Laura Jeffrey of Digby, NS; sister in law Dorine Roberts of Lethbridge; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families.

The family wish to give special thanks to the staff at St. Therese Villa in Lethbridge who gently cared and nurtured our mother for her 5 year residence there.

Family and friends are invited to pay their final respects at 1:00pm on Thursday, April 16, 2015 at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610- 4 Street South, Lethbridge, Alberta. A Funeral Service will follow at 2:00pm with Dr. Bill Calderwood, officiating. Interment to follow in the Mountain View Cemetery.
