Annie Regier

Official Obituary of

10/12/1925 - to - 30/5/1946

Annie Regier (nee Thiessen) was born in 1925 in Orenburg, Russia to Peter and Elizabeth (nee Dueck) Thiessen. They came to Canada in 1926 when Annie was 10 months old. They lived in the Steinbach, Manitoba area until the spring of 1935 upon which they moved to the Coaldale area. She completed grade 1 – 7 and never had to write exams because of her good marks. At 17 years of age she attended the Coaldale Bible School for one winter.

She accepted Christ into her life at the age of 12, was baptized and joined the Coaldale Mennonite Brethren Church at age 15. Annie married Peter Regier on May 30, 1946. Together they farmed while raising their 6 children – 3 boys and 3 girls.

Annie was very involved in church activities, teaching Sunday School and being part of a Ladies Sewing Club, which raised money for missions. She taught religious instruction at the Sunnyside School for 35 years and was part of the Coaldale Hospital Women’s Auxiliary for 40 years.

Annie had the gift of hospitality and used that gift often, serving meals to countless people over the years. She also loved gardening, crocheting, embroidering, baking, quilting and taking care of her family. She prayed daily for Peter, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

During their farming years, Annie did a lot of the farm chores. She was a faithful wife and mother. In May of 2014, she moved into the Sunny South Lodge where she was well cared for.

Besides her loving husband Peter, Annie also leaves behind to mourn her passing, her children John (Mary Lou) Regier, Jack (Lil) Regier, Anne (Gilbert) Sperling, Joy (Alvin) Thielmann, Lue (Tim) Wiens, and Larry (Jolayne) Regier; grandchildren Jenny (Brian) Doerksen, Rusty (Sandy) Regier, Justin (Rachelle) Regier, Jordie Regier, Melissa (Josh) Friesen, Craig Sperling, Scott (Rachael) Sperling, Kerri Sperling, Lane (Mikaela) Thielmann, Katelyn Thielmann, Jay Thielmann, Kyle (Cloe) Wiens, Jason Wiens, Kendell (Jill) Wiens, Brianna Regier, Riley Regier, and Jodi Regier; great-grandchildren Zak, Bailey and Kaycee Doerksen, Apryl and Matt Regier, Emmett Regier, and Walker and Hudson Sperling. Annie is also survived by her two brothers Jake and Ike Thiessen.

Family and friends are invited to pay their final respects from 7:30pm – 8:00pm on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610- 4 Street South, Lethbridge, Alberta.
