MARIE ""TOOTS"" PLOMP of Lethbridge, beloved wife of Bill Plomp, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2011, at the age of 68 years.
Besides her loving husband Bill of 50 years, Toots is survived by her Children: Lori (Doug) Warren, Gwen (Mike) Anhelher, Lloyd (Cindy) Plomp. Grandchildren: Micah and Kiya Plomp, Liam Warren, Russell, Allison, Maegan and Ian Warren, Samantha and Lacey Whenham. Siblings: Galen Konynenbelt, Trudy (Bert) Slomp, Mint Loslo, John (Rosemary) Konynenbelt. Sisters-In-Law: Jennie Bell, Leida Konynenbelt. Special Grandchildren Melissa Kallis, Mathew Dyck and Lynn Balmer, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, good friends and families.
Marie, fondly known since childhood as ""Toots"" by family and friends, grew up on the Konynenbelt family farm west of Nobleford. As a kid she was known for her athleticism and her spunkiness. Fabled for her ability as a small girl to save everyone from the attack-prone rooster patrolling the farm yard simply by staring him down, pointing her finger and saying ""NO!""- That spunkiness was a lifelong hallmark of Mom's character.
Educated at school in Nobleford, in 1961 she married her high school sweetheart William (Bill) Plomp and they settled down in Lethbridge. Mom was a true-blue policeman's wife, supporting Dad 100% with all the sacrifices that entailed. After Dad's retirement, Mom was an integral partner in the Investigation and Processing business which followed.
Mom and Dad celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary in February of this year. They have inspired us all with their example of a Christ-centered marriage marked by complete devotion, trust and love. Theirs is a love story for the ages.
Mom was also a very devoted mother. She was a woman of Proverbs 31:28 as ""her children rise up and call her blessed"". She dedicated herself to bringing up her children in the Lord and worked diligently to support each one of us in our interests and endeavors, sacrificing of everything she had to give.
The greatest delight of Mom's life was to be found in her grandchildren. She adored each one of them as they do her.
Traveling was a love of Mom's with some favorite trips to Holland, Arizona, Christina Lake, Hawaii and Disneyland with the grandkids.
Mom loved sports, especially hockey and baseball, always cheering for the Flames and Blue Jays. She loved music, word puzzles, camping, peaches and cherry milkshakes. She loved a good laugh. Christmas was her favorite holiday. Summer was her favorite season and she always kept a beautiful yard with bountiful blooms bursting from baskets well into the fall.
Most of all, Mom was known as a woman of deep and abiding faith in God. She loved her Lord with all her heart and earnestly strived each day to follow Him. Her kindness and generosity were extended to all and she made a real difference in the lives of those who knew her. Mom met her death with the same courage and faith with which she lived her life. She was at peace with all of God's plan for her, and she died at peace in her beloved husband's arms. She will be so dearly missed.
Mom was predeceased by her parents Johan and Cora Konynenbelt, her brother Arie Konynenbelt, Parents-In-Law Bill and Minnie Plomp, and Brothers-in-law Lloyd Plomp, Clark Bell and Bill Loslo.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects between 7:00 and 9:00 pm on Monday, May 30, 2011, at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 4th Street South, Lethbridge.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH, 1614 5th Avenue South, Lethbridge.
Interment to follow in Monarch/Nobleford Cemetery.
