Lillian Piper of Lethbridge beloved wife of the late Ralph Piper, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2012 at the age of 90 years.
Lillian was born on February 24, 1922. She was the sixth of seven children born to Leonard and Johanna (Annie) Koole of Monarch. Lillian attended Finley School for grade one to grade eight, Monarch School from grade 9 to grade 11, finishing her high school in Barons. After graduating, she attended Garbutt Business College. During World War 2, she worked at the income tax office in the post office building in Lethbridge. In 1946 she married Ralph Piper from Bindloss and together they moved back to the family farm in Monarch. In 1950, a daughter, Brenda, was born and in 1959, a son, James, arrived. In later years she and Ralph enjoyed travelling, visiting places such as Africa, New Zealand, and Southeast Asia. In 1993, after Ralph's passing, Lillian moved into Grandview Seniors Condos in Lethbridge, where she resided for 14 years. In 2007, she moved to The View and then to Columbia Assisted Living in January 2011, where she resided until her passing.
Lillian is survived by her daughter, Brenda (Tom) Rogers, of Monarch son, James (Karen Densky) Piper of Kamloops ; grandchildren, Bobby Fallon, of Coaldale, Krista (Brad) MacNeil, of Lethbridge, Alison Piper of Kamloops, Trysten Piper of Victoria; step-grandchildren, Mark (Alyshia)Rogers and Cindy Rogers, of Lethbridge, Jakob Densky of Kamloops; great grandchildren Allysia and Darren MacNeil of Lethbridge; step great grandchildren, Makayli and Cowen Rogers of Lethbridge; and sister, Annalene Stone, of White Rock B.C. Besides her loving husband, Ralph, Lillian was predeceased by her parents, Leonard and Annie Koole, brother Gerrit, sisters, Ingetta deValois, Rita Rider, Arine Roelofs, and Esther Doe. Lillian was also predeceased by her special friend Alton Knapp in 2006.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, May 26, 2012 at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 - 4 Street South, Lethbridge, with Reverend Deborah Lannon officiating.
