Official Obituary of

14/8/1918 - to - 27/7/2009

ELVIN ""BUD"" PETERSON, beloved husband of the late Charlotte Peterson passed away in Lethbridge, at the Good Samaritans Park Meadows Village, on Monday July 27, 2009 at the age of 90 years.

Bud was born in Mullen, Idaho on August 14, 1918 and moved with his parents and older sister Alva to Scandia, Alberta in the spring of 1919. He attended the Jenny Lind School, SAIT in Calgary and spent one winter at Camrose Lutheran Bible Institute. He attended and was confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church in Scandia.

Bud married Charlotte Odland on September 24, 1939. They farmed in Scandia until 1958, when they moved to Vauxhall where Bud operated an insurance business. In 1959, they purchased the grocery store in Enchant. In 1973, they purchased land west of Enchant where they lived and farmed until they retired to Coaldale in 1998. While living in Enchant, Bud was a member of the Enchant Lion's Club, served six years on the Board of the Taber School Division and was a member of Ibbestad Lutheran Church.

Bud is survived by two sons, Selmer (Shirley) and Darcy (Marlene), six grandchildren; Jacquie (Brian), Stacy (Teresa), Martin, Leah (Leeon), Spencer (Jennifer), Shauna and nine great grandchildren; brother Sig (Elizabeth), sister Mary (Stan), sisters-in-law, Pat Peterson, Ione Skretting, Josephine Johnson, Audrey (Don) Bigelow, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one son Dennis in 1997, his wife Charlotte in 2002, brothers, Ernest and Larry and sisters Alva and Jean, his parents Albert and Josephine, his in-laws Sam and Minnie Odland; brothers-in-law Bill Johnson and Gudmund Skretting, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Harold and Audrey Odland.

A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, July 31, 2009 at the ENCHANT COMMUNITY HALL, Enchant, Alberta, with Pastor Jakob Pillibeit and Pastor Jeff Frostad, officiating. Interment to follow in the Enchant Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 317 - 10th Street South, Lethbridge, Alberta T1J 9Z9, to the Good Samaritan Society, 1511 - 15th Avenue North, Lethbridge, Alberta T1H 1W2, or to a charity of your choice.
