Ron was born in Lethbridge January 7, 1936 and raised in Hardieville Alberta. He graduated from St. Joesph’s High School in 1954 and then attended S.A.I.T with a diploma in Industrial Electricity. He immediately obtained a job with Alberta Government Telephones (Telus) and continued working there for 30 years. His job took him to Calgary, Edmonton and Fort McMurray. While in Fort McMurray Ron built and opened a restaurant which gave him delight. He also had a passion for building homes for his immediate family in Comox British Columbia and Alberta. Ron was involved with the Galt No. 8 Mine Society. He was proud to design and build a model of the No. 8 mine tipple as a float. It won several awards throughout southern Alberta. Ron enjoyed travelling to Europe, Mexico and Hawaii. He especially enjoyed visiting with his family and friends in his home that looked over the coulees.
A Celebration of Life will take place at 12:00pm, Saturday November 3, 2018 at ST. MARTHA’S ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH, 355 Columbia Blvd West Lethbridge.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ALS society of Alberta, 7874-10 Street SE, Calgary, Alberta T2E 8W1.
