Donald Lanclot Parry

Official Obituary of

1/4/1934 - to - 29/5/2020

Mr. Donald Parry of Cardston, beloved husband of the late Mrs. Freda Parry, passed away at the Cardston Hospital on Friday, May 29, 2020 at the age of 86 years.

Donald Lancelot Parry (Don) was born April 1, 1934 in Lethbridge, Alberta and raised by his parents Charles Parry and Laufey Parry with a Brother and a Sister. He grew up partially in Lethbridge and on the McNally farm and later on in life moving to the Waterton Ranch.
Eventually Don met his beloved wife Freda Parry and together they raised their children Yvonne, Sandy, Ila and Sean. They then moved to a ranch south of Hillspring and then finally Hillspring. He also worked for Cardston county as a grader operator until he retired.

Don loved animals and owned numerous horses, mini horses, donkey's, sheep, and his dachshunds. Don taught all his kids how to ride horses and then had them very involved with 4H club (cats, dogs, and horses). He was also part of the quarter horse association.

Don was  a very active member of the Hillspring community, whether it was helping local ranchers, being part of the parade, participating in local events or even if it was just to be a good friend and lend an ear. He was also a great storyteller and loved history and could often be found down at the Hillspring trading co store visiting with friends and sharing stories for hours.

He was known as a "jack of all trades" and created beautiful custom works of art by making things with wood, working with leather, braiding bridles and so on.

Sadly, on the morning of May 29, 2020, Don suddenly passed away at the Cardston hospital.

He was predeceased by his loving wife Freda Parry and beautiful daughter Ila Anthony. Don is survived by his children Yvonne Archibald, Sandy Keller, Sean Parry; grandkids Justin, Corey, Bailee, Ty, Roman, Kendyl, and Dustin and 6 great grandkids as well as many nieces, nephews, and good friends.

Don will be deeply missed by anyone that had the opportunity to know his beautiful heart.

Although we cannot hear his voice or see his smiling face, we know within our hearts he has not left us. Instead, every day, he will surround us with the song of the birds… the rising and falling of the sun... And when you hear a thunderous gallop of horses’ hooves, we will know he is riding freely with them.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Martin Brothers Funeral Chapels, there will be a private family Graveside Service to say our final farewell.
