Lillian Parkyn

1928 ~ 2017

A life well lived and a person well loved by all who knew her. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, family and friend. Lillian Sylvia Parkyn (formally Fabbri) passed away peacefully on June 24, 2017 at Fairmont Extendicare at the age of 89 with her family near her side.

Lil was born June 11, 1928 in Lethbridge and is survived by her sister Rita and her son Ron Berlando; brother Joe (Grace) Fabbri; daughter Lindy (Hans) Enns; sons Bob (Brenda) Parkyn, Rick (Carla) Parkyn; grandchildren Jarret (Trena) Parkyn; great grandchildren Jax and Duke Parkyn, Crystal (Shea) Cordial, Cale Parkyn (Melissa), Chelsea Parkyn (Triston); step-son Joe (Betty) Garon; brother-in law Dick (Maxine) Parkyn and their families.

Lillian was predeceased by her parents Joe and Irma Fabbri and by her loving husband Robert (Bob) M. Parkyn in 2010.

When we speak of careers and achievements in life, we often think of a job that we may go to each and every day. Lil’s career was significant and of high importance. She was first a loving wife to her husband Bob and a devoted mother in the raising of her 3 children. Grandchildren were born and nurturing continued with love. Lil was a person who had a combination of warmth, kindness, laughter and love; a person who overlooked your faults and praised success and encouraged people’s dreams. She was an avid sports fan, especially during the Toronto Blue Jays World Series. All the grandchildren thought she was the coolest grandmother. The girls admired her style and grace and wanted to be just like her. The boys loved that she could be so funny and her laughter filled the room; she made light of many situations. Everyone has a story to say about Lil (Mom, Nona). She was an excellent cook and would specially make your favorites when you would visit. Apple pie, chicken soup, famous crab dip, and homemade pasta and sauce were just a few of her specialties. We will remember a cooking lesson or two and now her recipes are to be treasured for generations to come. She leaves all of us with many fond memories that will never be forgotten.

A special thank you to Dr. Leam and the wonderful care she received at the Fairmont Extendicare that became family and friends to our mom.

Cremation entrusted to Martin Brothers Funeral Services. At Lil’s request no service will be held.
