Mrs. Joyce Owen passed away peacefully on Friday, October 2, 2020 at the Chinook Regional Hospital.

She was born February 23, 1921 at the Van Harlem Maternity Hospital in Lethbridge to Scott and Anne Davis.

She was predeceased by her husband Jim, son Roger, her parents and brother and also by several nephews and sister and brother in laws.

She is survived by her son Lorne (Linda), daughter Vonna Lee (Jack), daughter in law Laverne (Roger), grandchildren Geoff (Paula), Corinna (Norm), Kimberley (Tyler), Bryce (Joanne), and Rena (Jamie) and 9 great grandchildren, Ava, Jonah, Tenille, Logun, Jada, Jordin, Cody, Jadia and Chloe.

She grew up in Coaldale and attended school there. After grade 12 she went to the Galt School of nursing in Lethbridge and graduated in 1944, receiving the Lovering Memorial Medal for top marks in Medicine.  That same year she married Elwyn “Jim” Owen and they moved to the family farm north east of Coaldale and there they raised their 3 children. She stayed on the farm till she was 94 and moved to Lethbridge until her passing.

Her and Jim enjoyed travelling to Arizona for the winter and always had their door open for all visitors. Later on, Joyce and her special friend Con Ebbert enjoyed travelling and helping each other with their yards and always a game of cards! Joyce was a member of the Pythian Sisters in Coaldale for many years. She also enjoyed china painting and she was always up for a game of any kind!

A Private funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, October 10, 2020, at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 4 Street South, Lethbridge, Alberta. The family invites you to watch the service via livestream on the Martin Brothers website.
