MR. BERNARD (BUB) NOLAN of Picture Butte, beloved husband of Dora Nolan passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2009 at the age of 91 years.
Bernard was born, raised and educated in the Picture Butte area. He next went to Toronto to further educate himself in the Radio and Communication field. He then returned to the farm in Picture Butte where he and Dora raised their family. Together with his two sons he established and grew a large progressive feedlot and farming operation where he and Dora resided until his passing. The legacy is presently under full operation by the remaining 3 family generations including Larry (Mary Ellen), Jennifer (Todd) and their family.
Bernard was a leader of many youth groups and clubs, including 4H and Cub Scouts. Bernard loved camping, fishing, horseshoeing, dancing in his earlier years and as such, loved being a part of the community. One of Bernard's passions was baseball and he helped establish the Lloyd Nolan yard in Lethbridge in memory of his oldest son. He continued to be one of the oldest supporters and attended many of the games.
Besides his loving wife Dora, Bernard is survived by his daughter Linda (Bill) Moedt of Cleardale, AB; son Larry (Mary Ellen Saunderson) Nolan of Picture Butte, AB; grandchildren Connie Sobolewski of St. Albert, AB and her children Ryan and Serena; Rick (Becky) Moedt of Warner, AB, and their children Dutch, Camden, Austin and Sydney; Gary Moedt of Cleardale, AB; Shawn (Julie) Nolan of Lethbridge, AB, and their children Tian and Caisa; Jennifer (Todd) Quinn of Picture Butte, AB and their children Jordan, Tyler and Tanner; Travis Nolan of Picture Butte, AB; brothers Tom (Joyce) Nolan of St. Albert, AB and Ron (Carla) Nolan of Missisauga, ONT; sisters Beatrice ""Babe"" Dunn of Lethbridge, AB, Ellen (Harry) Wright of Lethbridge, AB, and Rita (Larry) Pizzey of Red Deer, AB, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families.
Bernard was predeceased by his son Lloyd and daughter-in-law Mary Nolan.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects between 7:00pm and 9:00pm, on Monday, May 18, 2009 at the MARTIN BROS. RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 - 4 St., S., Lethbridge, AB.
A graveside service will be held at 12:00pm, on Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at the MOUNTAIN VIEW CEMETERY, 910 - 4 Ave., S., Lethbridge, AB.
A celebration of Bernard's life will be held at 2:00pm, on Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at the TRINITY UNITED CHURCH, 528 Maple Crescent, Picture Butte, AB, with Gloria Miller officiating.
