Cory Nash
Official Obituary of
12/7/1985 - to - 25/9/2011
Cory Daniel Nash of Lethbridge, passed away suddenly on September 25th, 2011 at the age of 26 years. Cory was a free and loving spirit, who the world was never really quite ready for. The next world has had some time to prepare for Cory, and he will be accepted and welcomed there for who he is.
In his younger years, Cory was an avid skier, figure skater and speed skater and an enthusiastic member of the 3rd Coaldale Scouts, attending the Canadian Jamboree in Thunder Bay and many other camping and provincial jamboree events. Later, he developed an enthusiasm for running and wore through several pairs of shoes in pursuit of his new-found passion. Cory ran the Moonlight Run several times and in 2010 completed his first half-marathon distance at the Buffalo Runner, finishing 3rd overall with a time of 1:47:21. He was looking forward to competing in a full distance marathon. Affectionately known as ""Crash Nash,"" Cory had all the patience and grace of a bull in a china shop and yet, was known to sit for hours as a young boy, constructing intricate Lego creations from the tiniest of pieces, and also showed the greatest of care with tiny creatures of all kinds. Cory had an active imagination and displayed a very unique artistry, creating cartoon characters that he called The D.J. Duxx Family.
Cory is survived by his mother Darlene Quiroga, father Geoffrey Nash and loving sister Kristi Vanderwall (Jacob); also by his grandfather Harold Sacher and step-parents Jose Quiroga and Kari Vickers Nash along with many cousins, step-brothers and sister, aunts and uncles among other family members. Cory is predeceased by his grandparents Edmund and Joan Nash, and grandmother Joyce Sacher.
Cory left his indelible mark in this world and will be dearly missed by all who came to know and love him.
A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00pm on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 - 4 Street South, Lethbridge, with Pastor Kelly Stickel, officiating.
In lieu of flowers, friends and family are encouraged to donate to any chapter of Suicide Prevention, 8306 - 98 Avenue, Fort Saskatchewan, AB T8L 3G3 or to the Tourette Syndrome Foundation of Canada, 5945 Airport Rd - Suite #195 Mississauga, ON L4V 1R9.
