Joanne Nagy
1940 ~ 2017
With great sadness, we announce the passing of Joanne Marshall Nagy on Mar 14, 2017.
Joanne leaves behind her loving husband Al; sons Ken (Heather), Tom (Janice), Dan, and Jamie; sister Karen (Wayne); three grandchildren Steve (Marnie), Chris (Misty), Robert; three great-grandchildren Brady, Jordan, Kayla; and is sadly predeceased by her parents and brother Tom.
Joanne was born Aug 18, 1940 in Vancouver BC, to John and Anne Irving, was married to Al on Nov 28, 1958, and soon after they moved to Lethbridge. Joanne was the quintessential supermom, raising four boys while Al often worked out of town. Her career began in medical records at Lethbridge Municipal Hospital then at the Cancer Clinic. She then worked her way up from Executive Secretary to Clinic Manager of the Campbell Clinic, retiring after 37 years. Always the consummate dedicated worker, after retirement Joanne taught Medical Terminology part time at Lethbridge College. She had a love of music, was a highland dance champion in Vancouver, and later taught accordion. Joanne's (Ma's) life was focused on her boys always encouraging them to be active as she supported their individual passions. She served as a Cub Leader, President and Treasurer of Lethbridge Minor Hockey Association, was involved with little league baseball along with other community sports. Committed to hockey, Joanne was also manager of the Bridge City Barons Jr. B hockey team for several years. She loved watching her boys, grandchildren, and great grandchildren play their sports and served as a surrogate mom to many. She enjoyed her morning crossword, feeding her faithful birds, travel, socializing and volunteering with the Coaldale Crib group and at the Lethbridge Seniors Center. She did so much for so many, touching everyone's heart. She will be forever loved and missed. In lieu of flowers and in recognition of Joanne's love of animals especially dogs, a contribution may be sent to your local animal shelter or humane society.
At Joanne's request, there will be no funeral. A gathering for family and friends will be announced at a later date.
