Hatch Murray

Official Obituary of

19/6/1961 - to - 26/4/2004

MURRAY HATCH of Lethbridge, Alberta, passed away peacefully on April 26, at the age of 49 years.

Murray was born in Edmonton, AB, on June 19, 1961. He moved to Red Deer when he was six years old and stayed until he was twenty. After spending a year the Crowsnest Pass, Murray moved to Lethbridge where he built the life he wanted.

Murray worked at the Ability Resource Centre for almost 30 years. He formed many unique and special relationships with many people there where he was aptly known by his friends and co-workers as ""Mr. Social.""
In 2004, Murray moved in with long-time friend, Sandy Lawson, and his family. Murray will be sorely missed by Sandy, Jan and their boys Harley, Iain and Cameron. Murray loved spending time with Sandy's mom, Joy, and the rest of the Lawsons.

Murray had strong bonds with his family and enjoyed travelling to visit his mom, Gail, in Edmoton as well as his sisters and their families. He had a special place in his heart for his niece, Amy-Lynn. Murray enjoyed trips to visit his father in B.C., prior to his dad's passing a few years ago.

Murray was a staunch Lethbridge Hurricanes supporter and their ""Number 1 Fan."" The Hurricanes staff fondly remember Murray's instructions to the coach prior to every game and will miss his enthusiasm at future games.
As a long-time Lethbridge Bulls Baseball season ticket holder, Murray rarely missed a home game in their eleven years. Murray often threw out the first pitch each season and would go onto the field and high-five the players after every win. The Bulls will be honouring Murray and his contributions at a home game in June.

Murray was an avid and vocal Edmonton Oilers fan and would often send them advice via email.

He was an active volunteer in the community, giving his time to the Lethbridge Humane Society and Lethbridge Association for Community Living.
He had a special relationship with his ""bowling coach"" Lillian Westling and looked forward to league bowling and the staff at Holiday Bowl every week.

Murray loved ""Sue"" Manery, and many of the gang at Community Living Association, who had the commitment and creativity to support Murray in living the life he envisioned.

Murray will be missed by long-time friend and champion, Bill Alles, whom Murray trusted and respected above all others.

Murray was a loving and vibrant man who touched the lives of so many. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and co-workers, along with his sisters; Judy Nicolas (Husband: Mark) nee Hatch, Laurie Schrader (Husband: Rolf) nee Hatch, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families.

Murray was predeceased by his father, Elmore Hatch.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Tuesday, May 3, 2011, at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 4th Street South, Lethbridge, with the Rev. Dr. Alex Lawson, presiding.

Family and friends are invited to a celebration of Murray's life following the service at 3:00 p.m., at the Ability Resource Centre, 1610 29 Street N. You are most welcome to come and enjoy remembering Murray's life.

Donations in Murray's memory may be made to the Lethbridge Humane Society, 2960 16 Avenue North, Lethbridge, AB, T1H 5E9.
