Rosalie Mulgrew

Official Obituary of

16/8/1923 - to - 24/9/2009

Passed away peacefully in Lethbridge on Thursday, September 24th, 2009, MRS. ROSALIE ANN MULGREW at the age of 86 years, beloved wife of the late Mr. John (Jock) Mulgrew. Rose is survived by a daughter Teresa (Darryl) Rohl of Calgary, two sons John (Diane) Mulgrew of Red Deer and Tim (Sheila) Mulgrew of Lethbridge; two sisters, Matilda Holcek of Lethbridge and Irene Tetrault of Montreal, six grandchildren, Clarisa (David), Tiffany (Jason), Mark, Lisa, Patrick and Melanie.; and a great grandson Jakob.

Born in Stredni Czepin, Czechoslovakia on August 16th, 1923, Rose immigrated to Canada in 1931 and resided in the Iron Springs area where her family the Holcek's farmed. Rose spent a number of summers hoeing sugar beets in the area until her family moved to Lethbridge in 1942 where she remained until her passing. She met the love of her life, Jock in Lethbridge and was married in St. Patrick's church on June 15, 1957. Rose spent some time working for the RCMP and then later worked as a waitress at various restaurants in Lethbridge including Sven Ericksons, The Marquis, Park Plaza, El Rancho, Zeller's Skillet and Woodwards.

Rose was a wonderful mother and grandmother and was the kindest person that you ever could have met. Her greatest joys in life were her children and grandchildren. There was no end to her caring and generosity towards her family. She always put her wants and needs behind those of her family. In her later years Rose suffered from Alzheimer's. She spent the last four years at the Good Samaritan's Cottage One where she received exceptional care from their staff. The family wishes to thank the staff at Cottage One and will be ever thankful to them for the care and assistance that you provided to Rose and our family. We would also like to acknowledge Rose's sister Matilda for her exceptional caring love of Rose over the last few years. Matilda's kindness will always be remembered.
