The family of DONALD WILLIAM MOSER is heartbroken to announce his passing on July 28, 2007. He passed as he had hoped - at home, quickly and painlessly, with his wife, Margaret by his side and with his daughter, Wendy Doherty and her family a stone's throw away.
Dad was born on the family farm south of Morse, Saskatchewan. He was the second of three children. He adored both his older sister, Mae and his baby sister Patricia. He loved farm life and the community of Morse. Some of his favorite memories were of heading into town for the frequent dances. He also enjoyed curling and playing any instrument put into his hands. He had the gift of playing by ear and had a soft spot for the old time hymns. Once grown and married Dad began farming his own land and his first six children, Ron, Lois, Thomas, Lorraine, Donna and Eloise were born and raised.
In his late 30s Dad took a leap of faith and moved to Canal Flats, B.C. where he worked for Crestbrook Forest Industries as a forklift driver. He quickly established many close, lifelong friendships. Here is where his youngest daughter, Wendy was born. He reveled in his second chance at fatherhood and he and Wendy were so special to one another and remained as close as a father and daughter could ever be.
Third time was a charm for Dad and in 1983 he found his soulmate, Margaret. They shared 24 years of companionship, support and love. Together they enjoyed trips visiting family, playing cards, board games and lawn darts. Their relationship was sprinkled with humor and teasing which enhanced the good times and eased them through the bad. Dad also enjoyed his daily trips to the ""office"" where he loved to visit with friends, played cribbage and enjoyed a nice, cold beer. Dad had the heart of a farmer and every year planted, tended and harvested an amazing crop from his garden. He was so proud of his bountiful tomato, potato and cucumber harvests.
In 2004 Dad and Margaret took another leap of faith and returned to his beloved prairies but this time in Picture Butte, Alberta. It was a short drive down the road to see Wendy, his son-in-law Danny who became one of his closest friends, and his precious granddaughters, Emily, Hannah and Alice who he lovingly referred to as his ""boys, Emile, Henry and Alec."" Dad's last years in Picture Butte were filled with joy, laughter, and the love of family and friends. He treasured every minute.
The world lost an amazing man on the day Dad died. He was a gentle, sensitive soul who was ready and willing to help anyone out. He lived with integrity and traditional values. His giving, kind spirit remains an inspiration to everyone who had the honor of knowing him. Rest easy Dad, you have earned your reward. This isn't goodbye - it's just until next time.
The family would like for all who knew Dad to please join us for a celebration of his life at 1:00PM on Saturday, August 25, 2007 the Coalhurst Legion. Please dress casual and bring any pictures, musical instruments and memories you would like to share.
