Heidi Menzak
Official Obituary of
17/2/1944 - to - 9/10/2025
It is with love and sadness that we announce the passing of Heidi Menzak, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. Heidi was born on February 17, 1944, in Friedenwalde, Germany, to Gustav and Meta Zilla.
In 1953, Heidi immigrated to Canada with her mother and sisters, Adele and Elsie. The family arrived in Stirling, Alberta, where she attended school and spent her teenage years. It was there that she met the love of her life, Kost Menzak. The two were married on December 2, 1961, and together they built a wonderful life and family.
Heidi and Kost welcomed three sons: Tim (born August 24, 1962), Michael (born December 25, 1964), and Warren (born November 10, 1967). The family later moved to Lethbridge, where they raised their children and created many cherished memories.
Heidi dedicated her career to working with children with special needs. She found deep purpose and joy in her work as a teacher’s assistant and was recognized as the longest-serving aide in the school system after an incredible 35 years of service. Her compassion, patience, and kindness touched the lives of countless students and colleagues. After her retirement, Heidi enjoyed spending time with her family and always loved hosting holidays at her home. Christmas, Easter, and Thanksgiving were her favorite times of year, when her love for cooking, crafting, and togetherness brought everyone joy.
She leaves behind a legacy of love embodied in her family including her late husband Kost; their sons the late Timmy James, Michael Konstantine (Roberta “Bobbie”), and the late Warren Kim (Colleen); grandchildren Stephanie (Bryant Jones), Kolton (Jasmine), Kenzie, Tyler (Lambah Mangel), Rayne, and Morgan; and great-grandchildren Drake , Parklynn, Theia, and Adina.
Heidi will be remembered for her caring heart, her devotion to family, and her unwavering generosity. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her and will forever remain in our hearts.
A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00pm on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at MARTIN BROTHRS FUNERAL CHAPELS, 610 – 4 St. S, Lethbridge.
