PAULINE McLEAN (nee Hotton) died on Christmas day, December 25, 2007 at the age of 91 years. Pauline Winnifred McLean was born June 14, 1916 in Sedgewick, AB. She was the second daughter of Tait and Grace Hotton. She had one older sister, Dorothy, who was a school teacher who lived and died in Vacouver, BC.
Pauline was a teenager when her family moved to Drumheller where her father was a manager of the Albert Government Telephones. There she met her husband to be Ken McLean who was working in the Bank of Commerce. They married in Camrose, AB. They lived in Stavely, Calgary, Camrose and Dawson Creek, BC before moving to Lethbridge in 1956. Ken and Pauline had been married 53 years when Ken died in 1995.
Their daughter Shelly Smith (Larry Maldaner) was born in Calgary. Shelly's two daughters, Heather (Kevin) Schindeler of Edmonton and Jennifer Smith of Calgary are both School teachers.
Pauline spent 73 consecutive summers at their cottage in Crystal Springs, Pigeon Lake, AB, where she played a lot of golf and bridge. Pauline was a bridge life master and a great lover of the many dogs she had owned during her life. Pauline greatly influenced her daughter and granddaughters. She will be missed by her family and by her special dog Shadow.
At Pauline's request, there will be no funeral service. She wishes to be cremated.
