Mia Marien

1952 ~ 2017

Mrs. Mia Marien of Taber, formerly of Picture Butte, beloved wife of the late Mr. Andre Marien, passed away suddenly on Friday, July 28, 2017 at the Taber Health Centre at the age of 65 years.

Mia and Andre married in 1970. In 1976, Mia, Andre and their 3 children Filip, Peter and An, immigrated from Belgium to Canada, settling in the Lomond area. In 1981, their fourth child Melissa was born. After her career in healthcare, Mia enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, knitting, cooking and volunteering.

Mia leaves behind her daughter Melissa (Daniel) Yanosik; sons Filip Marien and Peter (Shawna) Marien; grandchildren Chad, Kathryn, Emily, Justin, Callum, Cassidy, Kody, Nathan, Bethany and McKenna; great-grandson Liam; one sister in Scotland; one brother in Holland and numerous nieces, nephews and their families in Belgium.

Besides her loving husband Andre, Mia was predeceased by her parents Jozef and Denise VanSas and her daughter An.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects between 7:00pm to 9:00pm on Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610-4th Street South, Lethbridge, AB.

A private family interment will take place in Mountain View Cemetery at a later date.

Cremation entrusted to Martin Brothers Funeral Chapels.
