Richard Malitowski

Official Obituary of

28/8/1954 - to - 4/8/2020

Richard Antoni Malitowski passed away peacefully on August 4, 2020, at the age of 65, with the love of his family surrounding him.

Richard was born in Lethbridge, Alberta in 1954 to Antoni and Adela.

Richard’s passion for life was undeniable. No matter where his life took him, he made an everlasting impact to his community and the people that surrounded him.  In his younger years he was a successful business owner, councilman, and volunteer firefighter in Picture Butte, AB.  He was a voice and advocate for Mental Health Awareness and was and active sports coach to his sons sitting on many community associations boards.  Richard, without prejudice, provided guidance, mentoring and support to family, friends, and strangers alike. He continually challenged himself and others to succeed.  His integrity was his badge and he wore it proudly.  His generosity will go unmatched and will forever resonate.

He had a distinguished career as a member of The Construction and Specialized Workers Union for over 40 years. In serving many of those as President, he used his passion and knowledge on pension boards, legislative boards, and was a key advocate for workers' rights in Alberta. Richards other passions included gardening, watersports, his animals, volunteering and providing for the less fortunate.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Sandra (nee Kleim); sons Stacey (Jen) and Chris (Jennifer), and his grandchildren Dyson, Thoran, Ava and Owen and sister Wanda.

A Celebration of Richards’s life will be held at 2:00 pm, on Friday, August 14, 2020, at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 4th Street, Lethbridge, AB. Due to the restrictions in place from the Chief Medical Officer of Health – Funeral Services are now limited to 100 attendees. Including family and Funeral Home Staff. If you’d like to attend, you may RSVP to Chris Malitowski at 403-968-2155 or cmalitow@hotmail.com.

Flowers are gratefully declined. For those who wish memorial donations in memory of Richard can be made to Diabetes Canada, 6223 2 St SE #220, Calgary, AB T2H 1J5.
