Beatrice Magyar

Official Obituary of

19/1/1927 - to - 12/6/2008

MRS. BEATRICE MAGYAR of Turin, AB, beloved wife of the late Mr. Bert Magyar, passed away suddenly at the Edith Cavell Care Center on Thursday, June 12, 2008 at the Edith Cavell Care Center, at the age of 81 years.

Beatrice was born on January 19, 1927 in Botfa, Hungary. At the age of 2 years Beatrice immigrated to Canada with her mother, Elizabeth Molnar and her father Steve Molnar and sister Violet. They worked in the Barrhill area and eventually settled in the Iron Springs area.

Beatrice attended school in Barrhill and after high school moved to Calgary and took secretarial training. Beatrice moved back to the family farm after completing her secretarial training and worked on the family farm until she met and married her husband of 53 years, Bert Magyar.

Beatrice was an active member of the Sundial Community area, belonging to the Sundial Ladies Handicraft Club, was a member of the Sundial Community Association and played the drums in the family band for a number of social events in and around Lethbridge and Taber. In her spare time, Beatrice loved to knit, crochet and weave and was an awesome Hungarian cook.

Beatrice's life was farming. She submitted grain entries to the Ag Expo Seed Fair taking first place three years in a row.

Beatrice traveled with her husband Bert to 50 states in the United States of America, 11 countries in Europe, Australia and the South Pacific and all provinces and territories in Canada.

Beatrice is survived by her daughter Cherylene Brewin and son Bryan (Judy) Magyar; grandchildren Stacey Vammen (Gord Kettyle), Stephanie (Les) Wold, Naomi (Pete) Wiebe; great-grandchildren Evan Vammen, Josh Kettyle, Lukas Wold; sisters Violet Hauser and Jolayne (Alex) Jozsa and numerous nieces and nephews. Beatrice was predeceased by her loving husband Bert on June 1, 2007 and her parents Elizabeth and Steve Molnar.
A Visitation will be held from 7PM to 8 PM on Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at MARTIN BROS. RIVERVIEW CHAPEL.

A Funeral Service will be held at 3PM on Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at MARTIN BROS. RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610-4th St. S., Lethbridge, AB, with Pastor Wes Midgett and Mr. Jim Chapman, officiating. Interment to follow at Mountain View Cemetery.

A special thank you to the wonderful staff at Edith Cavell for their care that Beatrice received during her stay.

Memorial donations may be made in Beatrice's memory to the Alzheimer Society Lethbridge Chapter, 402, 740-4th Ave. S., Lethbridge, AB, T1J 0N9 or to the Canadian Cancer Society, 317-10th St. S., Lethbridge, AB, T1J 9Z9.
