Therese (Diamond) Lencucha of Lethbridge; beloved wife of Wilfred Lencucha, passed away after a lengthy illness on July 7, 2007 at the age of 82 years.
Therese was born Sept. 6, 1924, to Joe and Denise Diamond. She grew up in the foothills where she developed a great love of horses and nature. She received her secretarial training at the Calgary Business College and then worked for Calgary Power for two years. Afterwards, she moved to Banff where she was employed by Brewster Sight Seeing Tours, taught as a certified teacher at Logan school (Lake Louise), and then moved to Edmonton, where she worked for public health at the Provincial laboratory in the Pathology Department. She met her husband in the Crowsnest Pass and married Wilfred Stephen Lencucha in 1951. She then continued to be employed in a number of jobs throughout the years including St. Mary's School and the Lethbridge Association for the Mentally Handicapped. She received a citizenship award from the Lethbridge Fire Department. Her home and heart were always open to others. She enjoyed many things including sketching, painting, gardening, and music. She had a deep strength of spirit and a strong, enduring faith.
Therese was predeceased by her sisters and brother-in-laws: Jeanne (Harry) Pinneo, Cecile (Benton) Murphy, Alice (Gerry) Matheson; her little sister, Babs Diamond, and her brother, Charles Diamond.
Left to mourn her and celebrate her life are her loving husband, Wilfred, her two sons and two daughter-in-laws, Mark (Diane) and Craig (Les) and her two daughters and two sons-in-laws, Deborah (Maurice) Hollingsworth and Heather (Lane) Carpenter; seven grandchildren, Amanda (Jeff) King, James, Morgan, Jenna, Cole, Cody and Christopher, and one great grandson Liam. She is also survived by her sisters Rita (Rick) Filanti, Delores Diamond, and Simone Diamond and by two brothers Joe (LaVonne) Diamond and George (Betty) Diamond as well as many cherished nieces, nephews and friends.
A sincere thank you to all her caregivers including Dr. Ireland, the Palliative Care Team, St. Michael's Palliative Care Unit, Home Care and the staff at Greystokes, with a special thanks to Cathy. Their exceptional care, support and cheerfulness were deeply appreciated.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 11, 2007 at OUR LADY OF THE ASSUMPTION CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2405 - 12 Ave South, Lethbridge, with Father Raul Hernandez, celebrant.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Therese can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 317 - 10 Street South, Lethbridge, AB T1J 9Z9.
