Jolanta Krol

Official Obituary of

11/2/1921 - to - 18/2/2007

MRS. JOLANTA EMILIA KROL of Calgary formerly of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late Mr. Marian Krol, passed away peacefully, after a lengthy illness, at the Calgary Foothills Hospital on Sunday, February 18, 2007 at the age of 86 years.

Jolanta was born on February 11, 1921 in Rabakecsked, Hungary. It was during WWII that she met her future husband Marian. They were married on May 5, 1945 in Hungary and shortly after returned to Poland to Marian's home to start their lives together. In 1954 their only child Eva was born. In February 1959 the family immigrated to Lethbridge, AB. Jolanta worked hard at various jobs alongside Marian to make a better life in Canada. Everything Jolanta did was for her family, whether cooking, baking or crocheting the many afghans she made. Weekends and holidays were family time, fishing, hunting and camping throughout Alberta and BC in their motor home. Her favorite times were spent in Waterton and Duck Lake. Another favorite pastime was playing crib with family and friends. Her greatest happiness however was her 2 granddaughters; they were her pride and joy. She especially enjoyed watching them grow and attending their dance recitals. Following a stroke in 2002, Jolanta showed great strength and courage as she battled to overcome many health challenges and remain as independent as possible in her own home. Six months ago she moved to Calgary to live with her daughter and family and resided there until her passing.

Jolanta is survived by her daughter Eva (Rick) Hucik of Calgary; grandchildren Megan Hucik of Lethbridge and Mckinley Hucik of Calgary, sister Mariska of Hungary, sister-in-law Theresa Krol of Lethbridge, her children and their families as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families in Hungary and Poland. Besides her loving husband Marian of 55 years, Jolanta was predeceased by her parents, a brother and a sister.

Jolanta was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She will be truly missed and forever remembered by her family. You will live forever in our hearts. We love you Mama.
