Molly Krein
Official Obituary of
6/1/1929 - to - 24/2/2011
MOLLY ""GRANNIE"" KREIN, beloved wife of Al Krein, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2011 at her home in Milk River, AB at the age of 82 years.
Molly was born Mildred Irene Fell on January 6, 1929 in Ft. William (Thunder Bay) Ontario, to Flora Scholefield and Clarence T. Fell. As a child, Molly moved to Victoria, near her grandparents homestead orchard at Oak Bay. The family moved to Vancouver in 1963 and ultimately to Milk River in 1973 where she and Al ran the Theatre, bowling Alley and then confectionary. She became well known in the community through her work and membership in organizations such as the Royal Purple. Later, Molly was head cook at Prairie Rose Lodge until her retirement.
An avid reader and collector of owls, Grannie had a passion for playing cards (especially Crib, Shanghai and Canasta), her garden and flowers beads, cooking and spur of the moment family activities such as picnics and Gold Springs or Writing-On-Stone.
Besides her loving husband Albert, Molly is survived and celebrated by her children Kathie (Ray) Loop, Michael (Dawn) O'Leary, Janis (Peter) Wood, Brian (Lori) O'Leary, Wendy, Andrew, and Gordon Krein; stepson Edward Krein as well as siblings Ralph (Brett) Fell, Anna Yelf, Claudia (John) McLeod and Dr. Edward (Penny) Pomeroy. Grannie was incredibly family oriented and was very proud of her 24 grandchildren, John (Elizabeth), Brad (Claudia), Shellee (Jason), Shannon, Trevor, Brendan, Tammi (Floyd), Kimberly (Scott), Victoria (Jeremy), Kaylie (Marvin), David, Samantha, Maeghan, Allyson (Alastair), Robert, Matthew, Jennifer, Brandi, Kristen, Robyn, Justice, Ryker, Dara, Aaron and her great-grandchildren.
Molly was predeceased by her parents, first husband Patrick Joseph, brother Beaver Fell, stepdaughter Brenda Krein and infant granddaughter Erin O'Leary.
Molly/Grannie will be deeply missed for her kindness, concern for others and her marvelous sense of humour.
In keeping with her wish for simplicity and in gratitude for friends and neighbors, a ""come and go"" Celebration Tea held in her honour at 2:00pm on Tuesday, March 1, 2011, at the MILK RIVER COMMUNITY CENTRE, Milk River, Alberta.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Heart and stroke Foundation, Box 2211, Lethbridge, AB T1J 4K7, to the Alzheimer Society of Lethbridge, 402, 740 - 4 Ave South, Lethbridge, AB T1J 0N9 or to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 204, 2323 - 32 Ave NE, Calgary, AB T2E 6Z3.
