9/7/1917 - to - 26/10/2011
MRS. MARGARET KIFFIAK of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late Mr. Harry Kiffiak, passed away peacefully in Lethbridge on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at the age of 94 years.
Margaret was born on July 9, 1917 in Siberia, Russia where there was much religious persecution. She had the privilege of coming to Canada, the ""Land of Freedom of Worship"" in 1926. Her family and nine other Christian families were very grateful to the Mennonite Central Committee who helped them with housing and food all through the first winter. Margaret gave her heart to Jesus when she was 12 years old. She loved Him and served Him all her life.
Margaret met her late husband Harry while working on a farm at New Dayton, Alberta. They were married October 31, 1941 and homesteaded south of Legend, Alberta. Margaret was active in the Evangelical Free Churches in Skiff and Foremost, and then in the Lethbridge Evangelical Free Church after their retirement, when they moved to the city in 1972.
It was her joy to teach Sunday School, DVBS and girls club, and to work with the Priscilla ladies group, Southern Alberta Bible Camp, Interfaith Food Bank, and the Mission Cupboard at Evangelical Free Church. She loved to crochet, quilt, cook, bake, pray, read the Scriptures and give hugs and say ""ich liebe dicht"" (I love you). She always had a twinkle in her eyes.
During the course of her life she was predeceased by her parents Abe and Helen Giesbrecht, her brothers and sisters, one infant son Kenneth, one infant daughter Lois, and one grand-daughter Rachelle.
Margaret will be greatly missed by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren:
son Edwin (Karen) of Foremost, AB, and their children; Carolyn (Tim) Anderson of Lethbridge, and Nathan of Foremost; son Dennis (Beatriz) of Surrey, BC, and his children; Jeremy (Haru) of Japan - children Aina and Gen, Jamison (Toni-Lynn) of Vancouver, BC, and Jordash (Joanna) of Jerusalem, Israel; daughter Erna Topliffe of Lethbridge and her son Joshua of Edmonton, AB; son Oral (Joanne) of Rankin Inlet, NU, their son Justin (Sonam) of Bhutan - children Michael, Gabriel, and son Daniel of Manitoba; and Lee Kiffiak of Surrey, BC.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects from 7:00 to 8:00 pm on Sunday, October 30, 2011 at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 4th Street South, Lethbridge.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, October 31, 2011 at the EVANGELICAL FREE CHURCH OF LETHBRIDGE, 4717 24 Avenue South, Lethbridge, with Pastor Tim Seim and Pastor Ian Lawson, officiating.
