Peter Kerber 1950 ~ 2013
Service Date: November 2, 2013Peter Kerber, beloved husband of Sherryl Kerber, passed away at the Lethbridge Regional Hospital on October 29, 2013 at the age of 62 years.
Peter was born on November 26, 1950 in Marienheide, Germany, and was very proud of his German heritage. He immigrated to the Lethbridge area in 1956, and attended school in Picture Butte and Lethbridge. After completing high school Peter trained in the floor installation business, and operated his own business from 1983 to the time illness forced his retirement. On February 27, 1982 Peter and Sherryl were married and spent over 31 years together. One of Peter's favourite activities was spending time with his family. Many vacations were spent riding the Alpine Slide at the Kimberley ski hill and horseback riding at Fairmont Hot Springs. In the winter, he loved to ski, and longed for the time he could return to this activity, a passion he shared with his son, Adam. Peter belonged to the Knights of Columbus Council #1490. Many good times and lifelong friendships were made over the years. The whole family enjoyed the camaraderie of campouts, golf tournaments, volunteering at the fair booth and baseball tournaments over the years. Soccer was another of Peter's favourite pastimes, and he spent many years coaching his children, as well as playing himself on an ""over 35"" team. This continued for many years, and also became a family camping activity when the team ventured into tournaments. One of the greatest joys Peter experienced was becoming a grandfather. He doted on his two girls, and for the past year spent most Saturdays enjoying their company. He loved their swings in the hammock and excursions to the park, and also their time spent horsing around on the floor playing ""steam roller"". As Peter was an electronics fanatic, he had most game systems before his kids wanted them, and his five-year-old granddaughter became his worthy opponent, and inherited his love of gaming. Peter is survived by his beloved wife, Sherryl; daughter, Kim (Mark), son Adam (Xuyen); two grandchildren, Destiny and Haley; his brother, Udo (Deb), numerous nieces and nephews, as well as his mother, Margarete Kerber, sisters, Brigitte (Ray) and Rose (Ed) and brothers Jonn (Carrie) and Ted (Kathy). He was predeceased by his father, Heinz A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 - 4 Street South, Lethbridge, with Deacon Cliff Bogdan officiating. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations may be made to GoodHearts Mentoring Foundation, 468 Southgate Centre NW, PO Box 76066, Edmonton, AB, T6H 5Y7.Tribute Wall
