Patricia Jones

Official Obituary of

7/4/1939 - to - 16/10/2023

Patricia Jean Jones (nee Kirkvold), our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, & sister, passed away peacefully in the Chinook Regional Hospital on Monday, October 16th, at the age of 84 years.

Pat was born on April 7th, 1939, in Orion, Alberta to Peter & Jean Kirkvold.  She joined two older brothers on the sheep ranch near Manyberries, until the family moved to Taber in 1949, where Pat continued her schooling.

There she met Neil, who she married on May 10th, 1958.  The next year, they had a daughter – Kari Veronica.  And a year later, a son – Bradford Neil – completed their family. Pat was a schoolteacher for 12 years, and then worked for Alberta Hail & Crop Insurance for several years.  Pat & Neil farmed in the Grassy Lake area from the time they were married until 2007, when they moved to Lethbridge, then to Coaldale to be near their son & daughter-in-law.  In the fall of 2021, they moved to the Seasons in West Lethbridge.  After Neil’s passing, Pat moved to Pyami Lodge in Picture Butte, then to Sunny South Lodge in Coaldale.

Pat was predeceased by her husband Neil on March 5th, 2022.  She was also predeceased by her parents & brother Ron & sister-in-law Daisy (& Fred) Kinniburgh.

Pat is survived by her daughter Kari (Tim) Donnelly & son Brad (Joan-Marie) Jones.  She was deeply loved by her six grandchildren & their families – Kristel Donnelly & her son Jackson; Tyler (Robyn) Jones & their children Aiden & Emma; Mark (Desiree) Donnelly & children Lochlan & Amaya; Vaughn (Dear) Jones; Devin (Maddy) Donnelly & their baby on the way; & Mackenzie (Jan) Tamminga & children Riley, Levi & Isabelle.  She is also survived by her brother, Bill (Donna) Kirkvold & sister-in-law, Lyn Real & Neil’s sister, Kathleen (Leonard) Sanderson, as well as numerous nieces & nephews.

Pat was a very strong lady, having fought a long battle with Parkinson’s disease for many years, as well as two bouts of cancer.  Dementia & Parkinson’s finally won the battle, but we are relieved that she is now at peace & once again with her beloved Neil.

A Viewing will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, October 21 at Martin Brothers Riverview Chapel, 610, 4th Street South in Lethbridge,

A Come-&-Go Celebration of Patricia’s & Neil’s lives will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 21 at the Italian Canadian Club, 1511, St. Edwards Blvd North, Lethbridge.
