It is with deepest sorrow that we announce that at the age of 83 years, FREDERICK ""FRED"" HARVEY JONES has gone home for a long rest with the Lord. Fred passed away on Friday, September 5, 2008 at the Chinook Regional Hospital.

Fred is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Elizabeth and sister-in-law, Margaret (Rod) Lister, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his pioneer dryland farmer parents, William Llewellyn and Bertha; two brothers and their wives, Tom and Kay, Basil and Sue; sister, Eileen and her husband, John Findlay; brother-in-law, Rod Lister; great-nephew, Scott Nay.

Fred was born on the Jones farm at the Kipp river bottom, and attended school at Rolling Hills and Coalhurst. When he came of age, he joined the Royal Canadian Air Force as a radio technician and remained a member until the end of World War II. He held several jobs with various appliance companies, and worked at C.P. Air for 14 years, before joining A.G.T. for 20 years, retiring in 1988.

On September 01, 2008, Fred and Elizabeth celebrated 57 beautiful and wonderful years of married life together. Fred enjoyed his family, gardening, fishing, camping, and family barbeques. He was an avid photographer who developed his own pictures. From 1951 to 2000, he was an amateur ham-radio operator (VE6FX) and enjoyed talking to his brother, Basil in North Vancouver and Kamloops.

Elizabeth would like to specially thank her nieces, Marlene (Maynard) Roelofs, and Joanne (Dennis) Nay, and nephew David Findlay for all that they have done, and the Adaptacare staff for keeping Fred happy while living there for the last four years. Elizabeth also extends a special thank you to Dr. A. McPherson for his compassionate care.

The Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Friday, September 12, 2008 at MARTIN BROS. RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 - 4 Street South, Lethbridge, AB, followed by a reception at the Riverview Chapel, then internment in the Mountain View Cemetery, Field of Honour.
