MR. W. NORM JOHNSON of Lethbridge, beloved husband and soulmate of Gerri Johnson, passed away suddenly on Sunday, July 12, 2009 at the age of 80 years.
Above all else, Norm was an avid reader and student of life. He believed in a higher power and had learned to quit arguing with ""what is"". He accepted life with all its challenges and blessings and always used to say: ""Everything will be OK in the end. So if it's not OK, it's not the end sweetheart!""
He became an amazing support to his family members and we gratefully carry his unconditional acceptance in our hearts. In addition to his passion for reading and philosophy, he loved nothing more than cashing a ""winning ticket"" at ""the track"" where he spent many hours with his great friend Jonas. He was deeply attached to his animals and they sparked a tender, nurturing side of him. He loved spending time in his 'home' and really enjoyed a good meal with family. We will miss sharing these moments with him, and say ""good-bye"" with tears in our hearts. We would welcome hearing any stories or memories you have of Norm at the service. Your contributions will help enrich our celebration.
Besides his loving wife and ""sweetheart"" Gerri Johnson, Norm is survived by his other ""sweetheart"" and only daughter Karen Ruth Lanser and her husband John and their children, Tiana (Rob) Owens and their children Hailey, Trad and Talaya of Lethbridge; Sherisse (Daniel Deriet) Lanser and their son Luka, also of Lethbridge; and Brittany (Karl Lang) Lanser of Saskatoon, one sister, Alice Watson of Edmonton and her son Norman (Linda) Watson of Cardston; and her daughter Sandra (Paul) Sir of Edmonton, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families.
Norm was predeceased by his parents Adeline (Lena) Renas and John Bland Johnson, his brother John Munroe Johnson, and his sister Audrey Phillipon.
A ""Celebration of Norm's Life"" will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, July 18, 2009 at MARTIN BROS. RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 - 4th Street South, Lethbridge, AB, with Norm's nephew Paul Sir officiating.
We hope you can join us for some light refreshments and good conversation immediately following the service.
For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to a charitable organization that speaks to your heart.
