ALLEN GEORGE JOHNSON was born on July 17, 1916 in the farm home of his parents, Les & Harriet Johnson. Allen was their fifth child. Besides his parents, He was predeceased by one brother, Melvin of Picture Butte, Alberta, two sisters Marion York of Vancouver, BC, and Edna Kurtz of Red Deer, Alberta, as well as his second wife Irene, and his third wife Taye. He is survived by one sister, Mildred Byrne, and one brother Ev Johnson as well as his dearly beloved daughters, Barbara Ensign and Gayle Rutledge, both of Lethbridge. He will as well be remembered by numerous nieces, nephews and grandchildren.

Allen was a farmer all his life. After the family left Enchant and moved to Picture Butte he continued farming. Later, he owned a quarter section of land in the Foothills of Alberta which became his pride and joy. He finally retired to Lundbreck, Alberta. Allen was a man who had a great love for animals and could never understand how anyone could treat them differently. This love for animals went back to his early childhood when he raised beef and Holstein calves and entered them in the Lethbridge Fair. Here, he won many prizes. The hard part for Allen was always having to part with them. Another great joy was riding horseback, with or without a saddle. To everyone who knew him, he was simply ""Uncle Allen"".

A funeral service will be held at 1:00PM on Thursday, November 22, 2007 at MARTIN BROS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 - 4 Street South, Lethbridge, with Reverend Elizabeth Brown officiating.
